The Pens had a 2-1 lead when Jan Hrdina scored near the six minute mark of the second period. Alexandre Daigle intercepted a Lalime pass in the right corner and passed the puck to Kris Beech in the crease. Beech was unable to control the pass but Hrdina got to the loose puck and beat Lalime from in close.

The lone goal of the third was scored by Mario Lemieux on the power play at 2:56. Hrdina, in the right corner, passed to Lemieux in the slot who one-timed it by Lalime five-hole.
