Alexandre Daigle got the lone Pittsburgh goal at 5:23 of the second period. Daigle came in on a 3-on-2 with Jan Hrdina and Martin Straka. Daigle took a Straka pass, skated down the right wing and snapped the puck by TB goalie, Nikolai Khabibulin, far-side from the right circle.

Tampa Bay tied the game at one with a Vincent Lecavalier power play goal at 18:40. Lecavalier took a short pass from Vaclav Prospal and beat Johan Hedberg high far-side from out front.

Vincent Lecavalier got the game-winner at 4:25 of the third period. Lecavalier hustled down the right-side of the ice, took a nice pass from Prospal, backhanded it off the far post and in from the bottom of the right circle.
