Montreal, Yanic Perreault 9 (Doug Gilmour), 11:44
Montreal added a Richard Zednik power play goal 38 seconds later to grab a 2-1 lead. While Ian Moran was off for tripping, Zednik picked up a rebound of a Mike Ribeiro shot and knocked it in.

There was no scoring in the third as both goaltenders came up with big saves to keep the game deadlocked at two. Aubin made several acrobatic saves and turned aside a 2-on-1 break with under a minute to go.
3rd period penalties: No penalties.
Andrei Markov scored the overtime game-winner for the Canadiens. Markov picked up the puck in the offensive zone, put a move on Hans Jonsson (who dropped his stick in the process...) and wristed a shot over Aubin's left shoulder from the slot.
