Pens lose season-opener 5-1 to New Jersey (5-Oct-2005)
The Penguins open the 2005-06 with a 5-1 loss to the Devils. The story of the game was the play of Devils goaltender, Martin Brodeur, who turned aside 36 of the 37 Pittsburgh shots. The Pens dominated the first 10 minutes of the game but were unable to beat Brodeur. New Jersey scored twice in the last 3:55 of the first and never looked back. Only high point for the Penguins was that Sidney Crosby notched his first NHL point as he assisted on Mark Recchi's goal at 5:36 of the third.
