Pens hold off Capitals 5-4 (22-Nov-2005)
The Penguins beat the Capitals 5-4 in front of 16,978 at Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh led 4-0 after the first scoring on four of twelve first period shots but then slowly let the Capitals back into the game. Washington scored fourteen seconds apart in the second to cut the lead to 4-2 before Ziggy Palffy scored his second of the game at 13:30 of the second to make it 5-2. The Caps notched two in the third including a shorthander at 6:29 which cut the Pens lead to one but were unable to get the game-tying goal. Sidney Crosby had 1 goal and 1 assist and was the game's number one star. Washington's Alexander Ovechkin had one assist and was the game's number three star.
