The Penguins lose 2-1 to Capitals as ex-Pen Kip Miller gets a goal and assist. Pittsburgh opened the scoring at 12:38 of the first with a Michal Rozsival one-timer. Sergei Gonchar tied it at one at 1:21 of the second period and Kip Miller netted the game-winner at 11:31 of the third. The Pens were outshot 15-5 (4 of the 5 Pittsburgh shots were from defensemen) in the third period.

The Penguins got their lone goal of the game from Michal Rozsival at 12:38 of the first period. Rozsival took a pass from Martin Straka, who was along the right goal line, and one-timed the puck from the right faceoff dot far-side past Washington goaltender, Olaf Kolzig.

Kip Miller notched the game-winner for the Capitals at 11:31. Miller took a short drop pass from Michael Nylander, drifted to his right and fired a shot by Sebastien Caron from the slot.
