Mario Lemieux returned to action but the Penguins fell 3-2 to Vancouver. Pittsburgh fell behind 3-0 early in the second and were unable to complete a comeback to tie the game up. Alexei Kovalev scored both Penguin goals. Sebastien Caron made 36 saves on 39 shots.
