Sidney Crosby has been named a Hart Trophy (MVP) finalist along with Vancouver's Henrik Sedin and Washington's Alexander Ovechkin.

Penguins eliminate Senators with come-from-behind 4-3 victory in overtime (25-Apr-2010)
The Penguins rebound from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Senators 4-3 and eliminate Ottawa in front of 20,122 at Scotiabank Place. Pittsburgh dug themselves a 3-0 at the midpoint of the second period. Matt Cooke got the Pens on the board at 10:56 of the second. The Penguins put on a furious charge in the third out-shooting Ottawa 18-4 and got goals from Bill Guerin on the power play and Cooke's second to send the game into overtime. Pascal Dupuis was the hero in OT scoring at 9:56 ending the Senators season.

Penguins lose 4-3 to Senators in triple overtime (23-Apr-2010)
The Penguins fail to close-out the Senators in Game Five by losing 4-3 in triple overtime in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Ottawa held a 2-0 near the mid-point of the first period but Pittsburgh got a late goal in the first, a late goal in the second and seemingly, the game-winner from Sidney Crosby at 9:01 of the third. The Senators responded with a Peter Regin goal 1:23 later which sent the game into overtime. Matt Carkner got the eventual game-winner at the 7:06 mark of the third overtime. The Pens outshot the Sens 59-44.

Staal named finalist for Selke (20-Apr-2010)
Jordan Staal has been named as a finalist for the Selke Trophy awarded to the NHL's top defensive forward. Staal is up against Vancouver's Ryan Kesler and Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk.

Penguins win pair of playoff games over weekend (18-Apr-2010)
The Penguins beat the Senators twice over the weekend to regain home-ice advantage and take a 2-1 series lead. On Friday, the Penguins got a late Kris Letang goal to defeat the Sens 2-1. On Sunday, Pittsburgh defeated the Sens 4-2 in Ottawa on goals from Alexei Ponikarovsky, Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby and Bill Guerin.

Penguins lose playoff opener 5-4 to Senators (14-Apr-2010)
The Penguins get held to 21 shots on goal and lose 5-4 to Ottawa in the playoff opener in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Things started promisingly enough with an Evgeni Malkin power play goal 3:03 into the game but the Senators scored the game's next three goals and led the rest of the way. Marc-Andre Fleury had a sub-par game making 21 stops on 26 shots.

The NHL has suspended Alexei Ponikarovsky for two games for boarding the Islanders' Josh Bailey. Ponikarovsky will miss the final two regular season games.

Penguins' last regular season game at the Civic Arena ends in a 7-3 victory over the Isles (8-Apr-2010)
The Penguins get a four-point night (1g, 3a) from Sidney Crosby and defeat the Islanders 7-3 in the final regular season game at the Civic Arena in front of 17,132 fans. Crosby was initially credited with his 50th goal of the season and second of the game but it was changed post-game to Bill Guerin. Crosby becomes the 3rd youngest player to reach 500 points behind Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux. Guerin ended the night with two goals and one assist. The Penguins brought out 51 alumni pre-game and posed with the current team for a team picture.

The Capitals complete the four-game series sweep over the Penguins with a 6-3 victory. Sidney Crosby figured in on all three Pittsburgh goals with a goal and two assists. Jordan Leopold scored twice. Marc-Andre Fleury was pulled after giving up three goals on 12 shots.
