Pens make qualifying offers to six players (26-Jun-2007)
The Pens have made qualifying offers to the following Group II free agents: Colby Armstrong, Ryan Whitney, Erik Christensen, Maxime Talbot, Ryan Lannon and Tim Brent.

The following Group II free agents were not made qualifying offers and will become free agents as of July 1: Michel Ouellet and Andrew Penner.

Pens trade Thorburn to Thrashers (22-Jun-2007)
The Penguins have traded Chris Thorburn to Atlanta for a third round pick (78th overall) in this year's draft.

Pens re-sign Recchi and Roberts per TSN (22-Jun-2007)
According to TSN, the Penguins have re-signed Mark Recchi and Gary Roberts both to one-year deals.

Ekman, Petrovicky, Cairns, and Kwiatkowski likely leaving the Pens (21-Jun-2007)
Dave Molinari is reporting in today's Post-Gazette that Nils Ekman, Ronald Petrovicky, Eric Cairns and Joel Kwiatkowski all will most likely not be offered contracts and will become free agents on July 1.

Crosby wins Hart and Pearson Trophies; Malkin wins Calder (15-Jun-2007)
Sidney Crosby was awarded both of the league's MVP trophies at last night's NHL Awards Show. He won the Lester B. Pearson Award which is given to "most outstanding player" in the NHL as voted by fellow members of the National Hockey League Players' Association and the Hart Memorial Trophy given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association. Crosby was also awarded the Art Ross Trophy as the League's leading scorer and was named to the NHL's First All-Star Team.

Evgeni Malkin won the Calder Trophy awarded to the rookie of the year. Malkin dominated the vote by getting 120 of 133 first-place votes. Jordan Staal came in third in the vote. Malkin and Staal were both named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team.
