Pens file for salary arbitration with Fleury (13-Jun-2008)
The Penguins have elected to file for salary arbitration with goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Arbitration hearings are set by the National Hockey League and take place from July 20 to August 4. As a result of the filing, the Penguins retain his rights and he will not become a restricted free agent on July 1.

Red Wings win Cup with 3-2 victory (5-Jun-2008)
The Penguins fall 3-2 to the Red Wings in Game 6 in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh was done by two goals with under two minutes to go in the game when Marian Hossa scored a power play goal with Marc-Andre Fleury pulled at 18:33. The Pens nearly tied the game as the clock ran out but Hossa's backhander from the right-side of the net went across the face of the goal.

Congratulations to Detroit on a well-earned Stanley Cup win! On a personal note, I just want to thank everyone for checking out the site and message board this season.

Pens beat Red Wings 4-3 in triple overtime (3-Jun-2008)
Epic game! The Penguins remain alive with a 4-3 triple overtime victory in Game Five over the Red Wings in front of 20,066 at Joe Louis Arena. Pittsburgh had a 2-0 lead after one period on goals from Marian Hossa and Adam Hall.

The Wings cut the lead to 2-1 after two and then scored twice in the first half of the third period to seemingly clinch the Cup. The Pens pulled the goalie with one minute to go in their season and Max Talbot banged one home with 34.3 to go to send it to overtime.

Also, in the third Sergei Gonchar crashed into the boards and left the game and Ryan Malone took a puck in the face and re-broke his nose.

The Wings were all over the Pens in the first overtime outshooting them 13-2 but Marc-Andre Fleury was brilliant and was easily the game's number one star.

Petr Sykora told color analyst Pierre McGuire that he would score the game-winner. He ended up being correct as Sykora scored a power play goal at 9:57 of the third overtime to force a Game Six Wednesday at Mellon Arena.
