December practice schedule (29-Nov-2006)
The Pittsburgh Penguins' October Practice Schedule at RMU Island Sports Center is available. The Pens have three open practice during December.

Pens defeat Isles 3-2 (28-Nov-2006)
The Penguins defeat the Islanders 3-2 in front of a standing room only sellout of 17,082 at Mellon Arena on Marc-Andre Fleury Bobblehead Night. The Pens got two goals from Colby Armstrong (his first two of the season) and the game-winner from Chris Thorburn early in the third with a shot from behind the goal which went in off of Rick DiPietro's skate. Fleury, who turned 22 on Tuesday, was the game's number one star stopping 33 of 35 shots.

Penguins go 0-1-2 over Thanksgiving (27-Nov-2006)
The Penguins lost three games over the Thanksgiving holiday but earned 2 points by losing in a shootout and an overtime.

Cairns placed on IR; Christensen recalled (23-Nov-2006)
Eric Cairns has been placed on injured reserve with post-concussion symptoms and Erik Christensen was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Penguins defeat Flyers again (*yawn*) (20-Nov-2006)
The Penguins jump out to an early 2-0 lead and coast to a 5-3 victory over the Flyers in front of 19,349 at Wachovia Center. Pittsburgh has now won all four meetings between the teams this season. John LeClair, Dominic Moore, Ryan Whitney, Sidney Crosby and Sergei Gonchar score for the Pens. Crosby left the game in the second period with a reported sore groin but head coach Michel Therrien said it was merely a precautionary measure.... Read more

Penguins beat Rangers 3-1 (19-Nov-2006)
The Penguins get two five-on-three power play goals and defeat the Rangers 3-1 in front of 16,737 at Mellon Arena. Jordan Staal opened the scoring at 14:42 of the first when he banged in an Evgeni Malkin rebound for the Pens' first 5-on-3 goal. Mark Recchi got the second 5-on-3 at 6:56 of the third period when he took a Sergei Gonchar pass at the side of the net and knocked in his own rebound. Brendan Shanahan beat Marc-Andre Fleury five-hole to cut the lead to 2-1 at 10:31 of the third. Mark Recchi got his second of the game at 14:55 off a nice Sidney Crosby feed to close out the scoring.

Pens lose 4-2 to Sabres (18-Nov-2006)
The Penguins lose 4-2 to Buffalo in front of 18,690 at HSBC Arena. Pittsburgh dug themselves a 3-0 hole midway through the game. Sidney Crosby scored late in the second and third periods to make it interesting but Buffalo added an empty-netter to put the game away. The Pens were 0 for 6 on the power play while the Sabres were 2 for 4.

Pens lose pair of games over the weekend (12-Nov-2006)
The Penguins drop two games over the weekend and now are on a five game losing streak coming on the heels of a five game winning streak. On Friday night, the Penguins were outshot 44-17 and were blown out 6-3 by the Senators. On Saturday, the Penguins gave the Hurricanes 13 power play opportunities and lost 6-2.

Petrovicky assigned to WBS for conditioning assignment (10-Nov-2006)
Ronald Petrovicky has been assigned to WBS for a conditioning assignment. Petrovicky has been out all season after undergoing hip surgery in the preseason.

Penguins lose 4-3 in OT to Lightning (8-Nov-2006)
The Penguins are beaten 4-3 on a Vincent Lecavalier overtime goal in front of 14,483 at Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh struggled early to get out of their defensive zone and found themselves down by two just after the midpoint of the game. Nils Ekman then recorded the fastest hat trick in franchise history as he scored three times in 4:10 at the tail end of the second period to give the Pens a 3-2 lead. Eric Perrin tied it at three early in the third and Lecavalier scored on a breakaway at the 2:41 mark of overtime handing Pittsburgh their third straight defeat.

Eaton out indefinitely with wrist injury (8-Nov-2006)
Mark Eaton is out indefinitely and has been placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury suffered early in Saturday's game vs San Jose.

Penguins lose to Ducks 3-2 in OT (7-Nov-2006)
The Pens get outshot 40-17 and lose 3-2 in overtime to Anaheim in front of 16,599 at the Honda Center. Chris Kunitz opened the scoring for the Ducks at 3:29 of the first. Kunitz took a pass from Teemu Selanne and one-timed it by Jocelyn Thibault from the left faceoff circle. Pittsburgh responded 21 seconds later when Dominic Moore skated out of the right corner and jammed it by Jean-Sebastien Giguere. Chris Thorburn scored his first NHL goal with a backhander to give the Pens a 2-1 lead at 10:49 of the first. Corey Perry picked up a rebound from in close and banged it home to tie the game at two at the 13:13 mark of the second. Teemu Selanne took a through-the-crease pass from Scott Niedermayer and one-timed it in for the power-play game-winner 44 seconds into overtime.

Penguins lose 3-2 to Sharks (4-Nov-2006)
Pittsburgh's five game winning streak and Evgeni Malkin's six game goal-scoring streak both come to an end as the Sharks defeat the Pens 3-2 in front of 17,496 at the HP Pavilion. Michel Ouellet and Dominic Moore scored for the Pens.

Penguins beat Kings 4-3 in OT on Malkin's second goal of the game (1-Nov-2006)
The Penguins defeated the Kings 4-3 in overtime with an Evgeni Malkin power play goal in front of 18,118 at the Staples Center. Malkin also scored in the first period and now has a goal in each of his first six games which hasn't been done since the NHL's inaugural season in 1917-18.
