Pens ask league to change starting time (31-Dec-2007)
The Penguins have asked the NHL to move the starting time of this Saturday's game which is currently set for 7:30pm. The Steelers first playoff game is this Saturday at 8:00pm.

Pens beat Sabres 2-0; Roberts breaks leg (30-Dec-2007)
Ty Conklin gets a shutout and his fourth straight win in net as the Penguins defeat Buffalo 2-0 in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Before the game, Gary Roberts was recognized for scoring his 900th career point and ominously fell as he skated over to receive the award. After a scoreless first period, Colby Armstrong scored the eventual game-winner 12 seconds into the second period. Sidney Crosby skated down the left wing and passed to Armstrong who redirected the puck in at the right-side of the goal. Midway through the second, Gary Roberts collided with Tim Connolly and broke his left fibula but refused to be stretchered off and was helped off the ice. Evgeni Malkin scored the game's other goal with an empty-netter at 19:38.
Pens blow four goal lead to Bruins but win 5-4 in shootout (21-Dec-2007)
The Penguins led 4-0 near the midpoint of the game but need a shootout to defeat the Bruins 5-4 in front of 15,304 at TD Banknorth Garden. Pittsburgh got two goals from Evgeni and one from Sidney Crosby in the first. Erik Christensen made it 4-0 at 11:26 of the second. The Bruins got two late in the second and scored twice again in the third to send the game into overtime. After a scoreless OT, Christensen and Kris Letang scored in the shootout while Ty Conklin stopped both Bruin attempts for the win.
Sidney Crosby had his first NHL fight when he dropped the gloves with ex-Pen Andrew Ference and handled himself well. (That working out with Georges Laraque has paid off.)

Pens blanked 4-0 by Rangers (19-Dec-2007)
The Penguins look terrible in a 4-0 loss to the Rangers in front of 18,200 at Madison Square Garden. The Pens had 3 shots on goal in the first period and 2 in the second.
Scratches were Ryan Malone (flu) and Connor James.
Pens defeat Isles 3-2 (16-Dec-2007)
The Penguins defeat the Islanders 3-2 in front of 15,269 at Nassau Coliseum. Pittsburgh had a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals from Sidney Crosby and Ryan Whitney outshooting the Isles at one point 14-2. As in the first game this season versus the Islanders, NY battled back in the second and tied the game at two but Tyler Kennedy scored a power play goal at 14:16 of the second for the game-winner.
Rob Scuderi was injured blocking a shot near the midpoint of the game and did not return. Jarkko Ruutu was also injured with six minutes to go when he was laying on the ice and Chris Simon intentionally stomped on his ankle. Simon received a match penalty for deliberate attempt to injure.
Pens recall James (15-Dec-2007)
The Pens recall Connor James from WBS. James has 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 25 games. He leads WBS with a +6 rating.
Pens lose 4-1 to Sens (14-Dec-2007)
The Penguins play well but fall 4-1 to the Senators in front of 16,982 at Mellon Arena. Tyler Kennedy scored the lone Pittsburgh goal at 14:29 of the first to give the Pens a 1-0 lead but failed to score the rest of the way as Ottawa goaltender Martin Gerber had a strong game in net and denied Sidney Crosby on three breakaway attempts.
Fleury to miss 6-8 weeks; Talbot 2-4 weeks (13-Dec-2007)

Pens lose 8-2 to Flyers (12-Dec-2007)
The Penguins lose 8-2 to the Flyers in a penalty-filled contest in front of 19,409 at Wachovia Center. Sometimes stats do tell the story of the game. The Pens had 98 minutes in penalty time to the Flyers' 58. Philadelphia had 13 power plays and converted on 4 while the Pens had 3 power plays and converted on 2.
Recchi taken off re-entry waivers by Atlanta (10-Dec-2007)
Mark Recchi was taken off re-entry waivers by the Thrashers. The Pens will be responsible for half of his salary.
Penguins win pair of shootout games in Canada (9-Dec-2007)
The Pens win twice in Canada with Kris Letang shootout goals. On Thursday, Pittsburgh defeated Calgary 3-2 in a shootout and on Saturday, the Pens downed the Canucks 2-1 in a shootout.
Marc-Andre Fleury injured his ankle early in the Calgary game and missed the Vancouver game. Ty Conklin was recalled on an emergency basis from WBS. RDS.ca is reporting Fleury will miss 2-4 weeks. http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/241919.html
Recchi placed on waivers (6-Dec-2007)
Mark Recchi was placed on waivers on Wednesday. He cleared waivers and has been assigned to WBS. No word on whether he will actually report or not.
Pens beat Oilers 4-2 (6-Dec-2007)
The Penguins score four goals in a 7:25 minute span of the third period to beat the Oilers 4-2 in front of 16,839 at Rexall Place. Edmonton got a Robert Nilsson goal in the first and a Shawn Horcoff goal in the second to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead after two. The Pens got goals from Maxime Talbot, Kris Letang, Colby Armstrong and Ryan Whitney.
Pens split pair over weekend (2-Dec-2007)
On Friday, the Pens jumped out to a two-goal lead early over Dallas and went on to win 4-1. On Saturday, the Pens were down by three goals after two periods, scored twice in the third before Toronto put the game away with an empty-netter making the final score 4-2.
