The Penguins blow a three-goal lead and lose 4-3 to the Sabres in front of 18,690 at HSBC Arena. Pittsburgh seemed to be coasting to an easy two points after chasing Buffalo goaltender, Ryan Miller, early in the second with a 3-0 lead. Ex-Pen, Patrick Lalime replaced Miller and turned aside all 27 shots he faced as the Sabres rallied for a 4-3 victory including a Drew Stafford penalty shot.

The Penguins lose 4-3 to Toronto on late goal in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. The Maple Leafs had three one-goal advantages before the Pens tied it up at three with 2:15 to go in the game seemingly sending the game into overtime but Toronto scored with 1:22 remaining for the victory.

The Penguins get an early Christmas present as they crush the Senators 8-2 in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Evgeni Malkin notched his fourth career hat trick. Pittsburgh was outshot 24-9 in the first period but ended the period tied at one. The Pens scored five goals in the second to put the game away. Marc-Andre Fleury finished the game with a 45 save effort and was voted the game's number one star.
Penguins blanked 4-0 by Devils (21-Dec-2009)
Martin Brodeur breaks the all-time shutout record as the Penguins lose 4-0 to the Devils in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Brodeur stopped all 35 shots he faced and passes Terry Sawchuk with the 104th shutout of his career.

The Penguins defeat the Sabres 2-1 in a shootout in front of 18,690 at HSBC Arena. Buffalo and Pittsburgh (Chris Kunitz - 19:21) both scored late in the first period but neither was able to score again in regulation or overtime. Kris Letang scored the lone shootout goal and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all three Buffalo attempts giving the Pens the win.
Penguins down Flyers 3-2 in shootout (17-Dec-2009)
The Penguins complete the home-and-home sweep with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Flyers in front of 19,689 at Wachovia Center. Pittsburgh got power play goals from Bill Guerin and Sidney Crosby. Kris Letang and Sidney Crosby (5 for 5 on the season) both converted their shootout attempts while Marc-Andre Fleury kept a clean sheet. The Pens are now 5-0 in shootouts.
Penguins pound Flyers 6-1 (15-Dec-2009)
The Pens get two goals from Jordan Staal and easily defeat the Flyers 6-1 in front of 17,086 at Mellon Arena. The first period was a wild one as the Penguins scored three times and there were three fights 16 seconds apart. Pittsburgh notched two shorthanders, one power play goal and three regular strength goals. Rematch on Thursday night in Philadelphia.
Penguins defeat Panthers 3-2 in overtime (12-Dec-2009)
The Pens defeat Florida 3-2 in overtime on an Evgeni Malkin power play goal in front of 16,977 at Mellon Arena. All three games this season with the Panthers have ended 3-2 and each game went to overtime.
Penguins defeat Canadiens 3-2 (10-Dec-2009)
The Penguins come from behind to defeat Montreal 3-2 in front of 21,273 at Centre Bell. After Sergei Gonchar scored the lone goal of the first period, the Canadiens scored twice in the second to take a 2-1 lead. Matt Cooke redirected a Gonchar shot late in the second to tie the game. Pascal Dupuis got the game-winner at 13:21 of the third with a slapshot that Montreal goaltender, Carey Price, was unable to catch cleanly. Pittsburgh outshot Montreal 41-21.

Penguins lose 3-2 to Hurricanes (7-Dec-2009)
The Penguins lose 3-2 to Carolina in front of 16,964 at Mellon Arena. The Hurricanes held a 3-0 lead early in the second period when the Pens got goals from Sidney Crosby (6:00) and Mike Rupp (6:49) 49 seconds apart. Pittsburgh was unable to beat Manny Legace for the tying goal as Carolina held on for their first road win of the season.
Penguins fall to Blackhawks 2-1 in overtime (5-Dec-2009)
The Penguins, playing without Sidney Crosby (groin), get a late goal to send the game into overtime but lose 2-1 to Chicago in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Marian Hossa gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead at the 7:37 mark of the first. Chicago's goalie, Antti Niemi, seemed unbeatable but with Marc-Andre Fleury pulled in the third, Jordan Staal knocked in a rebound of a Evgeni Malkin shot at 18:28 of the third. Kris Versteeg got the game-winner 2:38 into overtime.
12/5/09 Update: The Washington Capitals have claimed forward Chris Bourque off waivers from the Pittsburgh Penguins and assigned him to the Hershey Bears of AHL.
Penguins beat Avalanche 4-1 (3-Dec-2009)
The Penguins defeat the Avalanche 4-1 in front of 16,968 at Mellon Arena. Sidney Crosby had another multi-point night as he scored twice and added an assist and now has 11 points in his last three games. Also scoring for Pittsburgh were Bill Guerin and Jordan Staal.
