That's as close to a breakaway as Sid has gotten this year.

Why would they? Letang has been getting all his shots blocked.

That's good right?

Why does it feel like the Pens are the only team that completely forgets about players when they aren't right in front of them? Their coverage is so awful!

Remember when that was a penalty on Malkin a few games ago.

Considering the Penguins seemed more concerned with outhitting them then actually outscoring them, we aren't that far away.

They had a ton of good chances. Just not going in. That doesn't change the numerous odd man rushes against and totally losing track of opponents however. That's a problem that needs fixed.

So many passengers on this team right now. Minimal production from Sid and Hornqvist, absolutely nothing from Rust, Hagelin, Sheahan, Reaves, McKegg, and Kuhnhackl.

Craig Patrick saw the same thing we're seeing now during the 1991-92 season. Just complete apathy. Shake it up, send some people packing.

Rust?

Is he still on the team?

Do they really need a "shake up" or do they just need to fill out the lineup properly? Our depth stinks, and that's on the GM.

McKegg, Sheahan, Rowney. They aren't going far if 2 of those 3 are your bottom 2 pivots. Add in the fact that Ryan Reaves and Kuhnhackl are the bottom line wingers with one of those centers, and it's even worse. Hagelin is basically playing and producing like an extremely overpaid 4th liner, except we play him on the 2nd or 3rd line.

Yes it doesn't help that Sid is slumping, or that Geno is a bandaid season after season. (I can totally see him being out longer than 1 game) Players go through slumps and we've seen it with Sid before, and we've also seen him bounce back and score 2 points a game for a month straight. The problem is the depth stinks and we've turned into that same team we were under Shero, one that relies on the top two lines to score night after night. Sure people are pointing to Rust and asking "is he actually still on the team??" Rust played over his head in the playoffs, he's not a top 6 winger, he's a complementary guy that can slide in at times, but is more of a third liner. You wouldn't see Rust in the top 6 on any other teams, unless of course they had premier centers in their top 6 too.

Letang as frustrating as he is at times, does not need to be traded. If anyone read Jesse Marshall's recent analysis, you'd realize that maybe sometimes your eye test doesn't actually tell you what's going on and that yes, you could be wrong. What frustrates me more than Letang is the fact the Dumo receives top pairing minutes, playing with talented players and can't even have more than 1 assist? His offensive output is a complete enigma and has started to become unacceptable. (Hainsey has 5x as many points as Dumoulin this year)

A move has to be made, but it's not a shakeup. (ie trading Letang, Kessel, or any part of the core players) Could they stand to trade Hagelin or even Sheary? I'd be against Sheary, but if it's a move that makes the team better (not sure what that might be), then of course. Hagelin isn't going to bring much back, but he'd open space.

I liked FLPensfan's idea of Sprong for Reinhart. Reinhart is better defensively than Bonino was, however he's not strong on the dot. The plus with Reinhart is that he's offensively talented and has the ability to step into the top 6 when needed, either as a C or a W. It honestly seems that Sprong could get the Pouliot treatment with this team. Just a feeling I have. I think they should give Sprong a chance up here before they go and make a dumb trade. Let's see what he's got and if it maybe sparks the team and provides a bit of scoring depth.

I still scratch my head during all of the line juggling why Sid and Phil are NEVER given a chance to play together? What do you have to lose?
