I trust RS will not "overpay" for Roberts... as in giving away a 1st or a high prospect.. but I wouldn't think twice to sacrifice a 2nd rounder for him.
Well with the way the market has been thus far...there is just about no way Florida would let him go the day before the deadline for only a second.
Unless the Leafs and Sens have no interest anymore and the Panthers figured they needed an extra day to ensure Roberts would waive his NTC.

I'm torn on this. I'm really not sure how to feel.
Roberts is a warrior, but his numbers at age 40 are not encouraging.

I like the idea of getting Roberts because he fits into the team toughness idea but can play with Crosby. He makes more sense than Malone on that line and should be very valuable once we get to the playoffs. The only question is cost. I trust Shero won't overpay for a rental.

The last thing the Pens need are more "numbers". We're 4th in the league in scoring despite playing 3 less games than many teams.

Look at his stats from last year. wow.
And his numbers in the playoffs are VERY impressive.

Are you saying it's a 3-team deal?

Wait until you see him play in the first round..... I have always been a fan of his, he was the ONLY leaf I have ever liked. 40 years old or not... a 40 year old isnt the same as the 40 year olds 5+ years ago. If a guy keeps up in the gym and isn't injury prone to begin with... they can still contribute just as much as a 30 year old ie: Recchi.

Once Roberts officially accepts the deal and waives the NTC, Pens will move Malone for a defenseman. Carolina is looking to get more up front after losing Erik Cole.

I guess his age is making me hesitant.
To be honest, I haven't noticed Roberts much this year, so I can't really comment.
But his leadership, alongside Rex, is invaluable.
Most accounts say his intensity is still unmatched.

Now we are talking some good trades here. Which Carolina D-man are we "looking at"?

Jesse, Roberts would be great in the locker room and our young guys would learn a lot from him.

Babchuk would be a good pickup

As I said above, that could prove to be an invaulable intangible.

Would you guys be OK with giving him an extension of that would get trade through?

Roberts and Babchuk would be two good deals.
Only possibly losing an extra 2nd and Malone?
