Roberts is a warrior, but his numbers at age 40 are not encouraging.
Jesse, Roberts would be great in the locker room and our young guys would learn a lot from him.
As I said above, that could prove to be an invaulable intangible.
Would you guys be OK with giving him an extension of that would get trade through?
For sure.. as long as it was a 1 year deal worth a million or a million and a half. The Pens need not worry about cap space until after next season.

Now we are talking some good trades here. Which Carolina D-man are we "looking at"?
Babchuk would be a good pickup
Roberts and Babchuk would be two good deals.
Only possibly losing an extra 2nd and Malone?
I would call that winning dealing by RS

Not sure he is 100% traded yet. I just heard on the Fan590, as they cut away from hockey talk, that it was possibly Buffalo. They didn't mention the Pens. He was long rumored to go to Toronto or Ottawa, and Muckler was quoted as saying that the price for him was too high.
According to the Fan590, a trade is in place, and Roberts is meeting with J. Martin to determine if he will waive his no trade clause.
We'll see if he still ends up a Pen or not. The main reason Toronto and Ottawa, and to a lesser extent Detroit and Buffalo have been mentioned, is that Roberts wants to be close to his family in Toronto.
Pittsburgh is still a lot closer than Florida.

Of course Bufflo is close to TO but it's not that much farther to drive to Pittsburgh than it is to drive to Detroit, maybe an extra 60-90 minutes.

Do we really need another point monger on this team? No we need a player who will teach these players how to win. Recchi has done a great job so far... but Roberts would only drive the point home.
Roberts could be the mentor that Malone needs to have.

This probably paves the way for a Malone departure.

He'd be wasting his time with Malone. But I'd love to see him give some pointers to Staal and EC on how to drive to the net better. That is if he does become a Pen.

My opinion of a Roberts pickup hinges greatly on the price paid to acquire him. With sole regard to Roberts, I think he would be a good add as far as the style he plays, his experience, and what he could teach the rest of the club (particularly it's younger members) about what it takes to win. I'm not sure what kind of pricetag I put on that, so I have to see the entire deal before making a judgement.
I'd like to see what kind of an effect he'd have on Malone, should he remain a Pen.

I don't care what the price is for Roberts per say, as much as the overall price for all the assets RS acquires. For example, if they move a 1st for Roberts, but Malone and a lower pick for someone like Boynton or Boyes, you have to look at the overall package, eh?

I don't really want Roberts, and I think he's going to Buffalo.
EDIT: Unless something like the above poster said were to follow, I wouldn't want him.

Just an FYI, the Pens don't have the 2nd rounder from Carolina anymore. That got traded to San Jose for Ekman. They got that pick instead of our second because Ehelechner (sp?) decided to stay in Germany.

leafs lunch is looking into it, i'm listening to them....Mr. Eklund is coming on next...
Only part that gets me nervous is that Ottawa and Toronto both wanted Roberts badly!, Hope we didn't overpay, if we got him...

I'm heading out for a few hours thanks for a promotion announcement but I would expect something to break within the next 2 hours about Roberts and Malone deals.

I haven't seen anything that the leafs or Sens wanted him, just that he wanted to really go to the leafs and Sens.
