He must be thanking his lucky stars...now he's on a Cup contender...such is the life of an NHL player I guess.

I think CP is demanding a bag of game-quality pucks, but the Canes are only willing to part with practice pucks. More to come....

Looks like Orpik picked up a pretty big assist for this deal. There are a few very promissing players in their organization and I don't expect a draft pick comming our way.

Doubtful we got much for Recchi

Postby FLPensFan on Thu Mar 09, 2006 2:37 pm

Could go either way, but so far, most of the trades have involved picks, not players. But, the fact that there were supposedly several teams bidding for Recchi, and Jokkinen resigned with Florida....I guess we'll see soon.

Interesting though, TSN pulled the Recchi trade off their trade tracker. It was there for about 2 minutes, then disappered. Hmmmm?????

Bill Watters says its a player AND a pick, they just haven't announced yet.

Also said that part of the deal is sure to be that the Canes won't take the option and Recchi has been guaranteed a job back here in Pittsburgh next season.

Great, that just means it will be a marginal prospect. Good job, Clueless Craig.

Hopefully it doesn't specify what kind of job. Look forward to seeing Mark's smiling face pouring I.C. Light in the E Balcony concourse.

Does anybody else have the sinking feeling that "future considerations" means them agrreing not to pick up his option? Can Patrick possibly be any dumber???

No, thats what I thought...

TSN is saying that Recchi still hasn't waived his trade clause. Unless I am on crack...

This is what TSN has as breaking news:

Pittsburgh Penguins winger Mark Recchi has waived his no-trade clause in order to be dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes. More to follow.

If we get a 2nd round pick, that's about what could be expected given that he's basically a rent-a-player. That's what the going rate was for a guy like Gauthier.

But Gauthier netted 2 second round picks and a marginal prospect.

Parrish is essentially a rent a player and he netted one of Tambellini or Grebeshkov.

I'm not expecting much of anything. Maybe a marginal player at best. Andrew Ladd was just called up a little bit ago, but I highly doubt he would be involved in this trade.

CP probably just asked Recchi where he wanted to go and didn't even entertain other offers.

Once again, CP pulls off another "future considerations trade". Brilliant...

Per TSN

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a pending deal involving Mark Recchi going to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Niklas Nordgren, Krystofer Kolanos and a second-round pick in 2007
