Molinari mentions Jackman to Florida deal for Taticek

Postby schreibdog on Thu Mar 09, 2006 5:05 pm

Jackman went to Florida for Czech center Petr Taticek, the ninth player taken in the 2002 entry draft. Taticek, 22, is 6-feet-2, 183 pounds, and has nine goals and 21 assists in 44 games with Houston of the American Hockey League this season.

Jackman has six goals and 22 assists in 49 games and spent most of this season out of favor with Penguins coaches.

I think it was for a 7th round pick in 2002.

The article says Jackman was dealt for Petr Taticek, taken ninth overall in 2002.

Don't understand that at all.

Petr Tacitek? I'd have rather kept Jackman's righty shot.

Wow, way to get value, CP. What a dope.
Let's trade a cannon right-handed shot for some chump.

I don't care what we got for Jackman, I'm just glad he's gone. The power play has done fine since Therrien took over without him playing a big part in it. He's terrible on defense. This team needs to improve its D, not keep playing guys who are a big part of the problem. Patrick at least did something worthwhile today - he ridded the team of its two worst defensemen. Too bad we've still got Melichar.

Jackman blows. He's so overrated on this board it's not even funny.

I'll take the chance on Taticek. 22 years old, big guy who can play in all three zones.

Jackman is at best a bottom pairing guy that you add when your defense is GOOD and you need some power play help. He is in no way, shape or form top 4 material.

Bad trade, giving away a righty defenseman for a minor league center. oh well, I guess he wants to make sure WBS has enough guys for the playoffs.

In case anyone is counting, we now have exactly ZERO right handed d-men. Way to put a team together, Clueless Craig.

Who's on D now?
If Jackman and Cross are gone and Orpik's suspended for the next game, who does that leave you with?
Gonchar
Scuderi
Melichar
Cairns
Whitney

Pens need to call someone up now, right? Interested to see if Welch gets his NHL debut on Saturday

One thing is for certain. When we play Florida (2 more games) Crosby will absolutely piss all over Jackman. He did it in practice without even trying all the time.

I hope Jackman goes on to have a good career offensively. He scored some big goals for us but it was time to move on I guess.

This would be a good time to bring up Welch. Let him play out the regular season with the Pens, maybe get through some of the growing pains now, and send him back down to the AHL for the playoffs.

I think so too, but they are gonna want to let all the new guys play with the big club sooner or later. I guess with Cross gone too their is a spot open for Welch.

Taticek Info

Postby schreibdog on Thu Mar 09, 2006 5:27 pm

TSN's take on Taticek:
Assets: Has tremendous playmaking skills and is comfortable in all three zones of the ice. Is developing into a better-than-average offensive center.

Flaws: Must add even more bulk to his 6-3 frame and get a lot stronger in order to play regularly in the NHL.

Career potential: Second line center.

I didn't really want Jacman to be traded but I'm intrigued by Taticek. He was buried in Florida, a team which is stocked with scoring centers. If the Pens give him a chance to play, he might blossom into a nice player.

Honestly, Taticek doesn't seem to even be that bad a prospect. I don't get this place. You had people whining because Patrick didn't claim that Weinhandl guy, and now you have people whining because we picked up a similar younger talent for a bad defenseman. I'm not even defending Patrick - he's done a bad job and he surely should be canned after the season. But it's beyond unfair to bash him because he couldn't turn garbage players into gold. Personally, I find getting a 4th rounder for Cross to be a minor miracle.

Everything's always more complicated than we can grasp... remember the limits they used to have on how many moves you could make after the deadline with guys going up and down? Welch can probably come up on Saturday on an emergency basis since we only have 5 D healthy and eligible to play. The AHL clear day is on Monday and obviously he needs to be on their playoff roster. In that case he might have to go back down right after Saturday's game if we want to make any other moves.

In other words... Who knows?

Quit whining about the Jackman trade. We traded a spare part for a potential good player, or maybe just another potential spare part. Big deal.

I am wondering if this deal didn't get into the league on time. The deadline was 3pm EST, right? It's now 2 hours past and no mention on TSN or SportsNet.
