Were that only true!

The Capital's singer is some sort of opera singer or something. Trills the R's and everything. It's very odd.

All I ask of an anthem singer is to get the words right, not hit any extremely bad notes, and to have good tempo.

That, and I don't need to hear their "interpretation" of the song. Sing it as written or don't sing it at all.

I wasn't there. Doesn't count. Image

Besides, I was just talking specifically about the anthem before a sporting event.

I was talking to my sister on the phone and she asked me who the refs were. I told her I couldn't remember exactly, but I knew one of them was named Francois. She responded "oh yeah, I know him: Francios McSuck".

I couldn't really dispute that.

AGREED!! I sang the national anthem at a lot of sproting events in high school. I never made my own interpretation of it (like so many others do), and it sounded fabulous every time. Not to brag or anything...

I don't mind hearing something different for a change. Why not? The music to the Anthem is originally based on an old ditty called "To Anacreon in Heaven" anyway. It's not like the song is sacrosanct or something.

By the way: I still crack up every time I go to a Pens game during the Anthem. During the pause right before the last line, you always hear the "LET'S GO PENS!" shout coming down from the cheap seats.
