Question about LeClair's Contract?

Postby borohcky9 on Mon Mar 20, 2006 3:15 pm

I was under the impression that LeClair had one more year under contract, but as I was looking over a list of future free agents come the summer, I saw that he is listed as a Group III which i thought was pretty much a UFA?

Is this list wrong, or is my understanding of Group III wrong? Any help

Someone said the second year was an option year, but I do not know if it was player option or team option. If it is player option he will definately go somewhere else.

I would hope if it is either player or team option that he will be gone.

LeClair signed a 2 year deal. He'll be making $1.5M next season.

I'd like to see him stay if he is happy, he seemed upset at not being traded.

That geocities list is garbage. Many of the Sabres they list as Group III are actually RFAs. They are wrong about LeClair as well.

Spector used to publish one. TSN and Sportsnet also did in the past. I have not looked recently.

I think those come out after the season ends.
