As much as I typically hate Detroit, of the elite teams this season I'd have to go with them because I don't want Recchi to win a Cup, and I lost a lot of respect for Ottawa the past week or so with Alfreddsson, Meszaros, and their head coach. Just as long as Ottawa, Philly, or Atlanta don't win I'll be happy.

Top 3 I would like to see....

1) Anaheim (GIGGY ENCORE)
2) Calgary (KIPPER ENCORE)
3) Buffalo
*Honorable Mention: Rangers (I'm a closet Jagr fanboy still)

Anyone but Ottawa or New York really.

I guess I'd like to see a team like Buffalo, they've impressed me all year long with the amount of speed they have on that team. I think everyone's kind of forgotten about them all the focus on Princess Alfredsson's crew in the same division.

playoffs

Postby penny lane on Sat Mar 25, 2006 3:36 pm

for me have to see how the match-ups go. i'd like to see a
nyr versus philly series. like to see if senators can win A round in
the playoffs.
depending on who gets that 9th spot, like the canadians best of all
canada teams.

really don't have a favorite team after the pens.
I have particular ones I enjoy rooting against!

I'd like to see Buffalo, Calgary, Nashville, Anaheim, or Edmonton.

But it'll probably be Detroit.

God, please not Ottawa, New Jersey, New York, Philly, or Dallas.

1. Buffalo
2. Edmonton
3. Detriot

All three are great hockey cities whose fans aren't horribly obnoxious (OK maybe Detriot fans can be - but not as bad as Philly, Ranger, Ottawa or Toronto fans)

The first two because they're small market teams.

Buffalo because they've gone through so much the last few years and I think their fans deserve it (Ask yourself when was the last time Buffalo was the champion in *any* sport?) Besides, it would really tick off 'Leafs fans for Sabres fans (who are mostly Americans) in their own back yard, to have won when they haven't won a championship in the past 40 years.

I didn't say Nashville because I don't think they're a "Hockey Market".

That got me to thinking (Hey you knew it would happen eventualy :-) ), Carolina wasn't a "Hockey Market" before they won the 'Cup a few years ago. Would you say they are now?

I personally don;t think Florida ever became a "Hockey Market" even after the 'Cup.

But I was wondering, if a "non-Hockey Market" (If there even is such a thing) wins the 'Cup, do you think that normally results in that city cultivating knowledgable Hockey fans?

And bye the way....isn't it "Yins"?

The three I want to see win:

1. San Jose, which won't happen, so...
2. Edmonton, or
3. Buffalo

I also hope Philly and Ottawa don't meet in the playoffs, because then one of them would have to win.

They won the Cup that year? I seem to recall them being handled by Detroit. :)

just not a canadien team, and preferably a big market US team

only because i think right now, it would be really good for the NHL to bounce back in the states if a big market US team won

i also like carolina, theyve been playing hard all season long and deserve a chance

Add Buffalo to my list. I knew there was an EC team I can tolerate, but couldn't remember it while posting.

Technically that one is different. It asks who you are rooting for in each conference. This one asks who you want to win the whole enchilada. :P
