Sid and MAF would def. be on my list, but rules are rules:

01] Armstrong - For obvious reasons. He's got heart, and a great sense of humor.
02] Koltsov - I love how hard he works. The hands and skill may not be there, but, like Armstrong, the heart is.
03] Orpik - Love the physical side he shows.
04] Gonchar - I'm one of the few who actually like him.
05] Roy - Not worth the $ he's making, but I love his character. He reminds me of a poor man's Barnaby.
06] Welch/Christensen/Talbot - I grouped them together because they aren't on the main roster now. I'm excited about seeing these kids stay full time next season.

I'm definiely in the minority on this subject. But I *like* LeClairs stuff the crease syle of play.

One thing I've always stressed to my teams in the youth leagues is that the Goalie doesn't stop very many pucks he/she doesn't see.

You could also wonder why some people come to a Penguin board when they clearly are not Penguin fans, are seem to barely be fans of hockey period.

None of that makes any sense.

Army's play yesterday put him at the top of my list. He was outstanding.

I'm a fan of Malone. When he is on Malkin's wing next season his play should improve dramatically.

How could you like someone who is grossly overpaid?
Or someone like Whitney who has regressed so much as the season has gone on?
Or Malone, someone who has underperformed so dramatically, and looked lazy so many times??

liking those players is completely illogical.

I have no problems with Gonchar. Yeah he was terrible at the beginning of the season, he has played well as of late. Salary wise...that's not his fault. If anything I should ***** at CP for giving him 5 mil a year. He is in the top 10 for Defensemen in terms of scoring.

Whitney once again no problem with. He has had his share of growing pains, but that is to be expected since he is a rookie. His play in his own end willl improve over time, IMO and I like the way he can bring the puck up the ice, probably our best puck carrying defenseman.

Malone is kinda "eh" with me. I like that he has picked up his play, but I don't think he will ever be more than a 3rd line center on a good team.

What about you boy Melichar yesterday? Played horribly...you should stop liking him now, right?

All that I'm saying is people have different reasons for liking certain players. For you to pass judgement off on them is pretty silly just because they don't agree with your opinion.

Some people are posting lists of 6 or more people... Apparently "favorite Penguin", singular, is too much for them to grasp...

I grasped it; I just didn't think we were going to get fined for naming more than one if we had them. What's the harm?
At least it's not the same as going around antagonizing posters. Image

Armstrong and it's not even close. 29 GM's are banging their heads against a wall because they could have had him for free. He's the type of player you want to add to a playoff team. Sid has a RW for long time in Colby.

or maybe they just wanted to list more.
You could probably figure out who their favorite penguin player is by seeing who is listed next to "1."

So lets change the subject to "List the Penguin's roster in the order that you like them" That way no one's feelings will be hurt...

Why do you think anyone's feelings are hurt? No one really cares. They've given a small list of players they favor & it has no consequences if they stray from the original suggestion.
This bothers you more than anyone else.

but what are the reasons for liking slow, lazy, bums who hurt the team?
that just doesn't make sense to me.

It's all in how you interpret it, I guess. There's no arguing the fact that Gonchar has been a disappointment with this team. But he hasn't *always* been with this team & anyone that's followed him throughout his career knows the Gonchar we have right now isn't the usual Gonchar. So do we just give up on him because of this?

I've liked the way he plays for a lot of years & was really excited when we signed him on. Things didn't go as I (or anyone) expected, but I'm still living with the hope.
Players have bad years...depending on what team they're on & who their teammates are, it can kill their style. He has the ability to help this team in a major way.

I think imo, that's where we are with Gonchar. But it was coming together for him you have to admit that, even if you don't want to like him.

Got to go with my pal Malone as number 1. Even when he was at his worst he was still my favorite.

A very close second...Colby Armstrong, followed by Fleury

Koltsov! K2! The Flying Boy Wonder! 8)

Seriously. Someday, he'll finish, and I'll be at the head of the bandwagon! :o

I could watch the guy throw himself up and down the ice practically all day.

(After him, Colby "Pippin" Armstrong"... then anybody who hits somebody...)

Hey, I love Surovy! He's such a team player & always can be counted on.

I'm a bit biased seeing that I favor Czech players & think they're among the best.
Most of them are pretty tough...I said most, not all. Did you see that hit on Marty Straka in the game last night? He was out again the next shift... :o And put one in the net...sweet revenge.

I miss Marty!

I have as yet to see anyone wearing Rita or Endicott jersey. I hope they were at least replicas. If someone dropped that kind of coin on an authentic Endo jersey, I think they have too much money and I need to help them with that "problem."
