What about this winger...

Alyn McCauley

His numbers this season are not very impressive but he had a solid softmore year. Maybe if they simplified his game by moving him to a wing he could produce more? I dunno, has anyone seen him play? He could be a very affordable 25 goal addition to the top 2 lines.

More of a playmaker, NOT a sniper.

Definitely NOT for the #1 line.

You think you hear "shot the puck" chants now...

The Sharks fans seem to think that he is just having a bad season and will bounce back next one. They also don't think it would be a good idea to move him to wing because he is great as a checking line center.

I like the 49.9% faceoff percentage this season which would instantly make him the fastest draw in the Burgh. If Halpern wont come here than this 28 year old veteren would be welcome.

Nah. He's a shut down, third line defender.
With Talbot, Koltsov, Murley and Hilbert the penguins have plenty of guys who can fill that role.

Well actually Ziggy, we don't. Nobody on our team is any good at faceoffs and none of them are anywhere near the Selke calibre of McCaulty. Shark fans seem to want him back pretty bad.

Halpern isnt HELP FOR PENS

Postby Pens4Life on Sun Apr 02, 2006 2:31 pm

Halpern really wouldnt be big help for Pens,if we get him.We dont need player his average qualities. We got Crosby,MAlkin,Christensen and Talbot centers for next season. Why are you soo into Jeff? Average player

Crosby: sucks at faceoffs, not expected to even reach 50% next season.

Malkin: will be a rookie, ALL ROOKIES GET SCHOOLED.

Talbot: sucks at faceoffs, not expected to even reach 50% next season.

Christensen: shows the most potential but he could be converted to wing next season if they get a McCaulty to take the 3rd line reighns.

The Pens NEED a veteren center who can win draws. McCaulty is a Selke runner up in 03-04 and is exceptional at faceoffs, he typically turns in seasons better than 50%.

Faceoffs and being able to shut down their top line = more wins, better season, more enjoyyment, more confidence for the young guys, more beer, more sex, etc...

A player like McCaulty could very well change your relgion my friend....
