hearings for slots-related

Postby penny lane on Mon Apr 03, 2006 4:10 pm

saturday I received mail from Senator Jane Orie...that would be
stamped mailed. She is not speaking at the slots hearing but she sent me her written remarks she mailed to Tad Decker.
She is not my state senator but she was on the list available here
and at the penguins site. She also addresses why she is not
supporting the government bill that wayne fontana introduced
at some point last week or earlier.

Anyone else get her mail?

Maybe gaming board will release roster of speakers?

271 people have applied to speak.

Only 247 applied to speak in Philly :-)

This is going to be fun to watch!

Has anybody else had the thought that Forest City is going to have a 'company day' at the William Penn and bring in a lot of people to speak on their behalf for this license?

that's a good point. Someone should get to the moderator ahead of time and suggest that each speaker identify the part of the city they live in and the company and type of business they are in.

Think about it? You can BET on it. These are seasoned professionals, and you had better believe that they will bring their hired guns out. There ain't gonna be any oafs like that spokesman who got chewed up by Madden.

The pro-Pens folks have got to focus on the Harrahs numbers/projections, and make sure that they are thoroughly debunked, because without their massive projections of tax dollars, income per machine, and average salary of workers, they are very vulnerable.

I wouldn't be surprised if Harrahs waits until after the hearings to decide whether or not to commit to Plan B.

Of course, they could always be attacked for FC being the front for Harrahs, violating the spirit of the rule regarding multiple ownerships.

Where did you get the figures from? You mean we only have about 24 more people than Philly? There's not as much controversy there! Where is everyone?

Considering Philly is the fifth largest city in the US and Pittsburgh is somewhere in the 20s or 30s.

That is a huge difference.

Also Philly is getting two casinos, which should effect more people.

I think it is a pretty good showing.

The hearings are also during work hours on a week day.

If they had been on a weekend I'd have signed up, but being over a 200 miles away it wasn't worth taking off work for the possibility to speak for a couple minutes.

I KNEW that if I didn't include a link someone would question my numbers :-) :-) :-)

That's OK, we cool. I *was* wrong... Philly has 214 speakers, not 247 :-)

(The main difference is that there's much more competition for Pittsburgh's *only* license)
