Best Goals of the Season

Postby jmh70 on Mon Apr 03, 2006 9:28 pm

What were the best Pens goals so far this season? I've though of:

Malone SHG v NYI
Crosby v WSH (splits the D)
Ziggy v WSH (from Crosby on one knee)
Crosby v BUF
Recchi coast to coast v NYR
Mario's last v MTL
Crosby v NJD (stickhandles around Clemmensen)

I am putting together a top 10 compilation so I need some suggestions.

I think the goal Hilbert scored acouple fo games ago was awesome. It was bang bang and he was off balance. In fact I dont think either of his skates were on the ice when he released it. Remember the one im talking about?

Palffy from Crosby in Carolina.

The "Slap Pass" to tie it up.

Ha! Forgot about that one.

My favorites have all been mentioned with one exception. I became an Erik Christensen believer one night. He guns a snap shot from around the right slot at a game I attended that was one of the hardest snap or wrist shots I've seen in person. The puck left his blade like a golf ball struck with a driver. When it hit the net it made this deep THUD noise that you could hear in the seats, crowd goes nuts, etc. There was not a soul between EC and the goalie and yet the goalie hardly moved. He took it on his blade and then cork! it is in the net. Does anyone remmber this goal? Sick goal. Or am I rambling at 2am...

favorite goals

Postby penny lane on Tue Apr 04, 2006 9:01 am

beause of the opponents:

Sid's 2 goals after losing 2 teeth; announcing to Philadephia there's
a new person in commonwealth to beware of :!: :!:

Against Toronto, 1st game in pgh, sid never gave up and on his
knees climbs around the goal to score.

for the team: all the rookies & french canadians scoring against
Montreal.

sheer beauty:
Sid against caps & AO
Shootout winner against Canadians
Brooks Orpik against the bruins with fabo dish from Sid

Do you guys really remember all these goals? Wow. That's dedication or complete obsession. You make the call.

Water bottle goal vs. Montreal in the shootout. There were lots of memories from that game. I believe that was Mario's last goal in the NHL? During the shootout, Montreal fans were standing, doing the Wayne's World "we're not worthy" thing to Mario and Sid. Unbelievable. They were chanting "CROSBY, CROSBY, CROSBY" in unison as they left even though they were decked out in their Habs gear.

I actually did like the water bottle goal because it meant that he lifted the puck. THe Pens need to do that more often. I have discussed with my friends that they should put a 1x12 across the bottom of he nets during practice to force the shooters to lift the puck over it.

Forsberg to Gagne at a sharp angle in our first game this year.

That's your classiest bit of "trolling" yet FN... :-) :-) :-)

I nominate FN for scoring on that sneaky little number :-)

With an assist to JMH70 for setting him up.

LOL! I was just being honest. That was probably one of the most memorable goals so far this year because it showed how great of a passer Forsberg actually was and that Gagne had regained that touch to make such a tough angle shot. He was almost on the goal line when he made it. On a side note, I heard an interesting stat the other day that since the Olympic break Forsberg had assisted on only one of Gagnes goals since that time.

In all honesty boys would you rather the Rags do better than the Flyers?

I think it's a requirement for Pens fans...

My worst nightmare would be a playoff series between the Flyers and the Caps... I mean, how could you even watch it as a Pens fan? I think my head would explode rooting against BOTH teams. :-)

You guys just don't have the hatred for New York that we do. How about the Devils, would anyone like to see them do better than the Flyers being they began the downfall of the game.

It'll be weird this year not having Toronto to knock around.

Most "hated" teams:

Washington
Philadelphia
New York Rangers
Colorado
Toronto

Then a giant drop off in "hate"
