I think the Pens will win their next three games, and then lose the last two against the Isles and Leafs. They'll finish the season with 59 points, second-to-last overall behind the Blues, but still manage to win the lottery for the rights to draft either Johnson or Kessel.
If Crosby has to miss any time or even is slowed down by whatever this injury is, that will make it harder for the Pens to win some of these games. That's why Malkin's going to be so important next year. The Pens always will have two legitimate lines as long as those two are around.

Do you mean finish second to last infront of the Blues? If yes, then I agree with you. The Penguins are going to win at least 2-3 more games and lose one in OT or SO, the Blues are not getting more than one win and one extra point in OT. Pens will finish with one or two more points ahead of the Blues and will select second in the draft.
