Does anyone from Forest City/Harrah's have a clue?

Postby cs6687 on Tue Apr 18, 2006 12:50 am

Abe Naparstek, Forest City director of development, said the firm would have an announcement regarding that subject (about Barden's group funding an arena as part of his proposal) at the gaming board public hearings. "We believe that the plan put forth by public officials ensures that the Penguins will have the opportunity to stay in Pittsburgh. What we need to hear from [the team] is a commitment to stay in Pittsburgh," he said.

Since when have the Pens said they aren't committed to staying in Pittsburgh, first and foremost?

Well sure, they've said that their preference is to stay in the city, but is that really a committment? I mean, have they offered to grow roots to hold themselves motionless in one place until they die? That would be a committment. Then they might have something. But no, they don't care enough about the city of Pittsburgh to committ to altering their DNA so that they become trees.

Harrah's trustworthy and totally independent analysts have projected that Harrahs casino employees will over time become rooted in place, like trees, only instead of leaves these trees with grow $100 bills. Those bills will then be used to eliminate all property taxes, which Harrahs' analysts say will vastly increase the property taxes created by the mega-luxurious condos which are already being oversold to the millions of folks who can't get enough of living in a congested sliver of land with single-road access, over top of a place where nightly a bunch of folks get piss drunk and throw all their money away playing slot machines.

I don't have anything to back this up, but I seem to remember reading that quote before. I think it may be taken from an archive. We'll see what they have to say tomorrow.
