A little perspective on Crosby vs Hawerchuk

Postby DelPen on Tue Apr 18, 2006 4:56 pm

Hawerchuk scored 103 as a rookie, we all know that by now. Sid is three points away from being the best 18 year old hockey player in NHL history. But looking at the scoring leaders from 81-82 we have Greztky winning the Art Ross with 212 points. Crosby at 100 is in 3-way a tie for 5th and the leader, Thornton, has 125. That would have been 6th in 81-82.

Hawerhcuk ended up being at best 12th, couldn't find a full list but I know he wasn't in the top 11.

Slightly off topic, click on Stastny's profile on hockeydb.

In Czecholslovakia the year before his rookie year he put up some amazing stats.

Wow. That must have been a great pre-game warmup to put up numbers like that.

Not bad for a 5 man team without a goalie :)
