Isn't Pat Quinn Available?

Postby Peter on Thu Apr 20, 2006 4:17 pm

Would you rather have MT or PQ?

I can't believe they fired him after 1 losing season in 7. Yikes.

Pat Quinn can rot in Canada. He's fired for putting together a team that underachieved due to effort most of the season. Same thing CP is being canned for.

Unlike Scotty Bowman, Pat Quinn is a dinasaur head coach that could not adapt to the new style of the NHL. Pat Quinn also hates young players and perfers veterans. Therrien is the complete opposite. That said, MT is not the long term coach of this team.

The funniest thing, or maybe saddest, is that it wasn't a losing season! They finished 41-33-8, and it's his first time missing the playoffs. Pretty stupid move if you ask me.... I don't see them improving with anyone else at the helm.

Yeah but they need a new direction, get rid of the old guard and not to mention Quinn had that old school mentality where the only way to win in the playoffs was to out physical your opponent. Worked well when they could run all over the Sens but it didn't when teams punched them back AND skated.

Fired for putting together an underachieving team??? He was the coach not the GM...a coach works with what he is given. He was fired because he could not adapt his coaching style.

Quinn will probably retire or become an announcer somewhere.

Actually if you look at the lineup that finished the season most of the players were drafted by Quinn as GM or brought to Toronto by Quinn as GM. He was fired because the new GM wants him out of the way period and the fact that they missed the playoffs helped.

Many of the young players who made the Leafs better at the end of this season were drafted by Quinn during the four years he spent in the role before Ferguson's arrival.

Ron hit the nail on the head here pretty much. TSN and Sportsnet's website offered up quite a bit of speculation early this morning that there was a pretty nasty power struggle between Quinn and Ferguson, and this was before the news of Quinn's firing even broke.

I've heard some rumors that he might be heading back to Vancouver in some front-office capacity there.

Pat Quinn?

Only if you own a Dunkin Donuts or an all you can eat buffet would you want that fat ass clown coaching the Pens.

Quinn? I guess it's not enough for us to whine incessantly about officiating, now we want a GM who will do it too.
