Frankly, him working to improve his language skills would not be a bad thing.

I'd rather have him in better hockey shape than better english shape. He can learn language more easily during the season than he can improve his strength and conditioning.

There's plenty of time for both. I worked out quite a bit when I was in college, and managed to both gain muscle mass and get a degree.

His English is perfectly fine as it is for what he needs it for. He knows a lot more than most people think probably. He doesn't need to be fluent. He understands the language, and that's perfectly fine with me.

Smile!

But yeah, I don't care at what pace he learns the language. It will come, and he clearly knows enough to get by well enough now.

Despite your sarcasm, i'll treat this comment seriously. "Enough" is different to different people. A lot of people want to see him giving interviews in english, and he is obviously not comfortable enough with the language to do that. Most fans are happy with him being able to function with his teammates, and he certainly seems to have that covered.

Maybe because Malkin was about dead from exhaustion at the end of the year? Who knows though, maybe it had nothing to do with training.

Yeah I think it had more to do with being the guy for half a season.

agreed

Empty Netters posted this video today. It shows Malkin "working out" with other hockey players. That must be what he's doing, because they're certainly not able to defend him.

My favorite photo was Evgeni & Sergei building up their leg
strength by holding up the side of a house. :)

No fear of a Casey Hampton issue with either for camp. :P

I don't care so much for the interviews in English. I just am hoping that he's able to take full advantage of the coaching (video, on the bench, etc) without the language barrier hampering him.
