I don't know how many on here are gamers, but here are the player rankings for EA Sports NHL 09, only thing missing is the Overall rating. The game is shipped Sept. 9, and will feature online play of up 6 vs. 6. You can build a team up to 50 friends and take on other teams, if anyone is interested in forming a LGP team I'd be interested in participating so PM me. The game sounds amazing, and this 6 vs. 6 is a first for online gaming with a sports title, apparently they are awarding a cup or something at the all-star game to the best online team.

Count me in for the big league. How sick would that be?

If Crosby is only a 90 and Malkin an 88 that is a complete joke.

the overall rating isnt an average of all the stats... some stats weigh heavier toward the overall rating than others...

ex. crosby's (playmaker) offensive awareness counts more toward overall than scuderis (defensive defenseman)... and hal gills (dd) hitting power counts more than sykoras (sniper)

Well, I wouldn't worry about it too much, I'm sure you can always edit it. At the same time, they have to have some balance to the teams. If every team was rated the way their fans rated the players on their team, there'd only be all-star teams.

I have the #6 pick in my leagues draft. I really hope that the Pens fall that far, but I doubt it. I may have to work some trades.

Wouldn't it suck to be the Florida Panthers in an online league? I would quit, I think.

Are there PC leagues? I wish my boy was older so I could have a legitimate excuse to buy a PS3 or Xbox.

Is a two year old too young for a console?

You're looking at the offensive awareness, there are no overalls posted. Geesh, everyone's all over that.

And why have a problem with Satan's speed being 84 (whoever that was)? That's good.

Madden's overly high ratings have raised the standard. In 2000 and earlier, 70 or so and up was a decent stat. Now, you have to be at least 80 to be good.

I think the bigger problem is that Sykora shouldn't have a speed rating anywhere close to 89 and should definitely have a lower speed rating than Satan.

I don't agree (in that Madden is behind that). It's been pretty much the same way with NHL over the years. Unless a player's got great speed, that is.

Koltsov in one year for example had a 75 rating but 95 in speed so he was top line material (still scored on one timers and breakaways).

I think the ratings in general are pretty ok. One can always nitpick and found those who aren't accurate though, especially when comparing different players.

I'm sure a skilled player can still thrash you no matter what teams you are. i played as the 03 pens and annihilated my barracks as they were using the cup winners and the other top squads.

True that.

I hear now the offensive awareness will influence the forwards' overall rating more and the defensive awareness the D-mens' overall rating. Sounds good. As it looks now the d-men would be underrated as they shot alot worse than the forwards and so on.

I hope the defensive sides of the game are noticeable. Usually speed, checking and reach are all that matters. Would be cool if they pull off the AI's positioning being affected by a defensive awareness rating, for example.
