WORST Pens game you've ever been to.

Postby startsinginalong on Sat Aug 16, 2008 3:06 am

Inspired by the "Best Pens game" which was inspired by the "First Pens game" threads.

My worst was last season in Atlanta when Recchi scored the SO winner after being traded. Right when he stepped up to take the shot, I knew it was over. Karma won that night. Ugh.

Worst was the 2-0 loss to Detroit early in the 06-07 season. Detroit just strangled the life out of the Pens and they only got something like 13 shots on goal for the entire game. it was just boring as hell.

I've only been to 3 games that they lost, but that was by far the worst since they never really had a chance with the way Detroit was playing. At least the other games had some exciting moments.

4-24-75: Game 6 of the 1975 conference semifinals, vs. NYI at the Nassau Coliseum.

A 4-1 loss when they were in the process of blowing the 3-0 series lead and losing.

A disaster in the making. I remember all the "Souvenez-vous les Maple Leafs" signs, reminding everyone of 1943, the only time to that point anyone had blown a 3-0 series lead.

There was a new years game that the Pens lost 6-1 or so to the Isles, and the game that Souray had 6 assists for the Habs. One of those.

Last game of the 89-90 season at home against Buffalo. Uwe Krupp scores the OT game-winner from the point when all the Pens needed was a tie to make the playoffs.

The place was like a mausoleum... nobody moved for 5 minutes, just sitting in silence...

The loss set us up to get Jags with the fifth pick in June...

5-0 loss to Minnesota in the 2005-2006 season. Nothing looked good for the Pens at that time, and the grave was creeping in on Edzo.

Game 6 of the SCF from this past year.

Nothing like seeing the heartbreak of our team after that loss.

The game really wasn't the worst, but just that moment was upsetting.

However, it could have also been on the "best" list for the fans chanting "Let's Go Pens" so deafening while the wing dings were raising the cup.

My first ever Penguin game was bittersweet as they were beaten 7-2 at the hands of the hometown Leafs. I believe Tie "Dummy" had a hat trick that night. Demoralizing!!

The Sharks game from this year was super boring. To have San Jose go 3 for 3 in the shootout with Roenick winning it, was just icing on the boring cake. The Tampa Bay game from this year where Crosby got hurt was also awful. TB completely owned the Pens. It was so lopsided. Basically any game where there was a blowout, it had super slow pacing, or where Avery scored a goal was the worst that I've ever been to.

1-0 loss to Toronto where the electricity went out int the building twice. It was only bad because they lost due to a weak penalty shot called late in the 3rd.

That and the stunningly mediocre Johan Holmqvist pwned us yet again.

Tell me about it, I was there as well. God that pissed me off, oh and then the next one I went to Crosby wasn't playing.

I wasn't in attendance when David Volek eliminated the Penguins in 1993, but that moment has to rank as the most disappointing on ice moment in franchise history.

I understand the Penguins blew the 3-0 series lead in 1975, but the 1993 team is undoubtedly the best Pittsburgh has seen.

Personally, the Game 7 loss to the Panthers in 1996 stings more than any other game I have witnessed, mainly because I felt the Penguins were better than the Panthers.

I also remember going to Game 1 of that series. The Penguins out shot the Panthers heavily but still ended up losing 5-1. Both of those losses sucked.

Game six, june 4. I felt worse for the penguins, than for myself.
The Stanley Cup was shiny brilliant; awful to watch strangers on igloo ice celebrating.
Moving on...I've been lucky to watch world class talent and good people do wonderful things for the penguins.

regular season ~ 2/27/03 loss 6 zip to Nashville. DT a -4, Richard Litner?
mikail samuelsson, a pen, pacing himself for detroit. :)
an innocent predator, Kimmo Timonen, before a flyer. :P
It was beyond pathetic effort.

12-3-2002, Caps absolutely destroyed the Pens 4-1 that night. Jagr scored, and was even assisted by the immortal Rick Berry. The Pens looked sloppy, especially in their own end. The game could have easily have been 8-1. Mario scored towards the end of the game.

The link I posted said the crowd was 11,160, the smallest of the season, but it looked a lot less than that. Probably more like 9000, and much less by the time Mario scored.

I remembe that game. Two four-goals nights by the Devils.

Was it John Madden and Randy McKay?

Wow, I remember that. I bet you we had about 6 shots on goal. We couldn't even touch the puck.
