He looked like a guy a little unsure of himself, which is understandable. You can see the talent is there though. He's an NHL caliber player as far as hands and skating go. The biggest determining factor for him is what he can do away from the puck. He needs to be positionally sound in all three zones and he can't stay on the outside all the time.
Today, he tended to stay on the perimeter more often than not, but he did go into the "dirty" areas when he had to. I don't remember the player, but he did a really nice job backchecking on someone during the scrimmage - caught him from behind and lifted his stick before the guy knew he was there.
Right now though, it looks like he's fighting an uphill battle. It's very early though, and things could change quickly, but as of now the top 3 lines look to be set, and he's not on them. He's among a large group of guys trying to nail down a spot on the 4th line - Beech, Kennedy, Stone, Taffe, etc. Godard would be listed there too, but given his deal I figure he's a lock for the final roster, though he might not dress all the time.
