Training Camp, Day 2 Report.

No Rob Scuderi today, in either drill session or the scrimmage. D'Aversa took his place in the drills.

Just an addendum for you to have before Netwolf gets home.

If anyone has any questions, I'll answer them as best I can.

Thanks!

I just picture Veilleux gliding along not even seeing Therrien below his eye level and running him over.

From a financial standpoint, it would be stupid to trade Scuderi and not Sydor. But if Richmond, Mormina, and Lovejoy are good enough to keep the organization 10-deep in defenseman, which Shero mentions every year, then Scuderi might be good enough to net the Penguins a fourth-line center. That spot is my only concern among the forwards.

Also, Jesse, how has Ryan Stone looked so far?

I must say that its bittersweet for me to see my long time dislike for Filewich continuing to come true. I would love to see him prove me wrong, but all I ever saw out of him was straight-ahead speed and marginal skills.

Good job, Jesse. I made it for the first two periods of the scrimmage. Only other thing that really stood out for me was that no one really stood out as either exceptionally good or exceptionally bad (Filewich noted). I'm not sure, but my initial reaction is that it's a good thing, considering that a good amount of the time has NHL players on the ice.

It is, however, probably bad for Peso, as you point out. Like HH also commented on, he's going to need to prove he has some attributes that either Dupuis or Kennedy do not in order to warrant replacing them. I liked what I've seen so far from Peso, but not more than I know what Dupuis has done and what Kennedy could do to add on to his young experience.

I continue to be very pleased with the focus on the net. There's decidedly much less checking up and surveying the scene as there is motion towards the goal.

Cooke has been around the net and in open slots a lot. That's good.

I get the feeling Satan is really just pacing himself. He's looked very good with Sid already, but I'm guessing that he'll pop an extra gear when the rs starts. Can't see him floating.

Ryan Stone has looked good. His biggest flaw in the past was his skating, and it's drastically improved from last year. This is the first time I've been comfortable saying he could fulfill a middleweight role on the fourth line.

Heck, 2 years into Dynasty mode in NHL08, I had him on Crosby's left wing. That team won a Cup.

I saw the collision, it looked a lot like the Charlie Weis collision last Saturday at the Notre Dame game. Minus the flab and knee injury. It looked like Veilleux lost his edge or stepped on a puck and slide horizionally into the back of MT. MT went down like a ton of bricks. No wonder he was shook up a bit.

If Stone or Kennedy could be trusted to play center, then a Stone-Kennedy-Godard line would be a very nice energy line. Kennedy being right handed should of practiced faceoffs during the off season to make himself a more attractive option to make the team. (I think he makes it easily anyhow)
