Promotional Schedule Released

Definitely scaled back compared to recent years. But I guess they don't need promotions to draw people in anymore. Plus, how many more bobbleheads could they really do.

Wow. You aren't kidding! Guess this is what happens when the team becomes popular and they no longer have to kiss butts to put them in the seats.

I wouldn't be surprised if they add more as the season progresses and they get sponsors for promotions.

That being said, I've never needed a promotion to make me want to go to a game.

More of an economic issue. Discrentionary marketing dollars are harder to come by right now and the Penguins aren't going to take the risk of finding a sponsor in-season. With no need to sell tickets, no need to take that risk. Just plain smart business.

Didn't they used to leave fan appreciation night off both plans? Plan A must be annoyed that they are playing overseas.

Promotions are kind of weak this year, but who cares, we should have a great hockey team to watch and that's promotion enough for me!

Look at it this way, you can have a choice of A) a great hockey team with crappy promotions or B) A very horrible baseball team with silly promotions nearly every game.

Pittsburgh has both, but my money's going to the Pens.

LETS GO PENS! LETS GO PENS!

I am too. It's a relief I don't have to either a) convince my buddy that I want that night or b) fiind it at a sports memorabilia store and pay $20.

I need a break from trying to gather these.

That's exactly what I thought. I'm a sports management major, and for my sport marketing class last quarter we had to make a marketing plan for a team, and my group chose the Penguins. I'm pretty sure the promotional plan we made was a lot better than the one they just put out.

So, if this is what the promotional schedule looks like, then can we expect not to recieve anything for Christmas... and what about Fan appreciation night? are they only going to give out the shirts off our backs and nothing else? Looks like they are only going to give fans shirts off the WBS players and not the Pens squad...j/k

Please tell me you're kidding about the bobbleheads. :(

Yeah it would have been nice, but like was mentioned before, and is the case for me, I don't need a promotion to get me to go to a game.

I'm betting though that they cut back on promos because, One, they don't need them, and two, they probably figure season ticket holders sell the extra games outright and therefore they (the Pens) don't get a cut of the $$. They would rather people deal with them through ticketmaster's sell back program so they could get some of the profits.

No problem here.

I think the problem was getting sponsors
I remember reading somewhere that's why they where waiting to release it because they where working on sponsors so maybe they just never got more sponsors

and I don't recall where I read that so I cant link it so i may have just dreamnt it haha

I miss the magnetic schedules. It really tied the fridge together. With a laptop I don't even use a Mousepad. Magnets, on the other hand are just awesome.

This was one of my best accomplishments ever at the Mellon. I got my mouse pad on the ice from F balcony. Not an easy task with the netting above the glass.
