A different board used to have a game where everyone would pick a player to score each game and then accumulate points. Problem was that the points were not weighted so 90% of the people picked Crosby or Malkin every game and it basically took the fun out of it.
Another problem was that no one kept track so you never knew where you stood.
The third problem was that you got nothing for winning. I think I've solved all of those problems. First of all, a certain member of the boards who wishes to remain anonymous has offered two tickets to the winner at the end of the season.
Second, I promise to keep track and update the scores on a regular basis. And third, the scoring will be weighted so that just picking Crosby every game will not guarantee victory. For instance, Crosby and Malkin average 1.4 and 1.3 ppg last season, respectively. So their points will count as 1. A guy who averaged .6 or .7 ppg will count his points at 2. A guy that scored at a .3 ppg avg. will likely get 4 or 5 points per actual point. And Eaton will probably count as 10
. Players will be broken into tiers based on scoring average and these tiers will be updated as the season goes along, maybe every ten games.
I'm willing to do the scoring and set up the threads for each game but I'm just looking to see if their will be interest. If you guys would be into it, I'll design a spreadsheet and make it happen.
I think it would be a pretty fun thing for everyone to get into and, like I said, there is a sweet prize for the winner. I'll wait to see if anyone is into it.
