Zenon Konopka?

Postby cojac on Fri Sep 26, 2008 12:39 pm

He will be on waivers starting tomorrow, IMO he'd be a solid addition to our 4th line. It would allow Biz Nasty to learn the LW position in the AHL.

Konopka-Kennedy-Godard= A ton of energy

I want a real 4th line center instead...I think we will see some decent players that will be waived soon...

Energy and toughness are his strengths, but despite that, Tampa's staff (which loves those qualities) saw enough holes in his game to decide he wasn't good enough to make their squad. If he can't crack their lineup, I don't think he could do so here either.

He was already Pens property once. I'd pass. He WILL take the stupid penalty and is Carcillo without the talent.

Robert Lang was Waived 3 times in just over a month. We grabbed him from LA, Boston took him from us, we took him back... a couple years later he signed a $5M a year deal... Waiver wires aren't always trash.

Would be a "win", but you failed to frame your answer in the form of a question.

He's been an absolute beast against the Pens this year.

I'd say yes in a heartbeat, but prefer he plays in WBS.

There's no need to add Zonopka.

We have Boogaard in WBS, and Bissonnette if he doesn't make the team

Don't forget we need to score goals too

JB said in his blog that Zenon harbors some ill will toward the Pens organization for not giving him more of a shot than the ~4 games he played for WBS

Looks like I'll have to update that pic sometime soon. Konopka clears waivers, will be reporting to Norfolk.

http://blog.syracuse.com/crunch/2008/09 ... lears.html

Former Syracuse Crunch captain Zenon Konopka has cleared NHL waivers and will report to Tampa Bay's AHL affiliate in Norfolk.

Teams had until noon to put in a claim for him. None did. It's not the way Konopka wanted to start his new tenure with the Lightning, but it's hard to pass judgment on his decision to leave the Columbus organization until we see if or when he's recalled later.

"I'm a little disappointed right now,'' he said. "But everything happens for a reason. You just kind of go with it.''

I'm not sure which I enjoyed more back in the day- the guy who claimed that Konopka was good, or the people who screamed bloody murder about Paul Bissonette not making the team out of juniors.

I was always partial to Goligoski being the worst draft pick ever.
