With Whitney out...I guess we'll see if Tang and Gogo can handle 1st unit pp duty.

Gogo should start out on PP 2. Tang should be on the other point on the pp ready for the back door play from Sid. It seems like MT is leaning toward Gogo on PP1.

I wonder who the source is ? Since, Sergei was just going to another specialist today.
Usually I am not one to question a source, but I am now. 8-)

I agree with MT, I think Gogo has looked better on the PP in training camp.

Yeah, Goligoski and Letang. Adding a player via trade means giving up assets. The season hasn't started and we have no idea how our youngsters will do. Let's give them a chance before making a (potentially) unnecessary trade.

There's an article on Roger's Sportsnet site that has him still undecided. It mentions a 2-3 month option with Arthroscopic surgery, rehab for another month or so or the long-term approach of getting "total reconstruction" which it says is a 6-8 month recovery.

I don't think that this "source" can be trusted just yet. Even the timeframes don't mesh between the two different stories.

We will be just fine. This is adversity and just like last year, we shall overcome this as well. Cue: Alex Goligoski. The kid looks fantastic and if he's not ready now, he will never be ready. We will challenge for the East even without 55 and 19. We are blessed with depth and while it is worrisome, I have confidence in this team to rise to the occasion. Let's drop the friggin puck already!!! GO PENS!!!

He doesn't fit on a team with Crosby's wing.

It doesn't exactly work like that...but I guess for some intents and purposes it does...

This is bad news bears here...thank God offensive defensemen are a dime-a-dozen, we can stop gap this quite easily without so much as giving up an asset...

I don't think so either, I consider him a Norris trophy candidate after last season...but the loss on the defensive aspect of his game will have to be contributed by the remainder of the team...someone will need to step up and eat minutes (like Eaton)...meanwhile, the power play quarterbacking can be replaced with an offense-only defenseman...someone like Bryan Berard, Petteri Nummelin (shootout specialist as well; but better at the shootout than anything else), Sandis Ozolinsh, or, dare I say, Dick Tarnstrom...all don't have NHL clubs right now and could be had for less than $750,000 in all likelihood...I won't even get into some European d-men that I'd like to see here...

We can't replace Gonchar, but we can try our best to replace what made up Gonchar without sacrificing much...
