Would you do Malkin for Ovechkin?

On this team, yes. If we didn't have Sid and Staal, no.

Malkin is my favorite player and I'd have a hard time trading him for anyone.

I fail to see this love affair with Gaborik.

I think the guy is tremendous but worhty of a Malkin trade for trade deal? No effing way!

We have had this discussion involving Staal and people were split about 50/50 on whether they would even make that trade straight up.

Crosby, Lidstrom, Ovechkin, Malkin, in that order...
are the four untouchable players in the NHL!
The rest are available if you want to pay the price.
Some might think of others but not really true. Think about it.

Those four players aren't going any place even if you offered an insane deal. They are franchise players. We just happen to have two of them. :)

I really don't think I would. Maybe for Malkin's contract I would, but not if I had to take Ovie's, which I would. Even if it made them a one line team(which it wouldn't), a team with a line that included both Ovechkin and Crosby could get away with being a one line team.

Yeah, RS is going to trade our young Hart nominated center who is locked up long term at a reasonable rate. Who is has also shown leadership ability despite being a young Russian who doesn't speak the language 100% yet, for an injury prone star who is not locked up and wants more money than Sid.

At least the Kopitar and Brown stuff made sense as a rumor. This is just flat out stupid.

If you read further down the article he mentions a few names from a couple of other teams. I was completely unaware that Tomas Plekanec, a winger like Andrei Kostitsyn or Chris Higgins, and D-man Mike Komisarek was equal to Geno. Not to mention that Gabby is a straight up trade for Geno. That is what writers for other teams do... under value the Pens Players while over valuing their own.

Injury prone scoring winger for a center who will score as many or more goals while doing everything else twice as good?

Mmmmmkay.

*And* who is not under contract for next season lol.

Although...

If we got Gabo that would increase our chances of getting Hossa. Imagine Hossa-Sid-Gabo

Trade Crosby for Hossa too. It will make sense when he gets here I'm sure.

There's only two players you'd even consider straight-up in a trade involving Malkin - and one of them already plays for the Pens...

Is this the same guy who said Satan is better than Hossa? If so, disregard anything he has to say from here on out. let me see a guy with a 5 yr contract or a guy with a 1 year contract. Hmmm, hard decision.

Malkin is too young to request a no-trade clause, but him & his agent made it known they didnt want him to be traded.

To honestly tell you the truth. I really wouldn't. Because I have always believed that out of the big three (Crosby, AO, Malkin), Malkin is the most complete player. He produces in every area of the game. And especially with the price we locked him up with, he's an absolute bargain. So, with that being said, there is no equal value for 71, whether it's a one for one or a package deal for Gino. He will be a Penguin for as long as HE wants to be one.

It is not going to take Geno to get Gabby. Anyone that would make that deal is just not paying attention. There is not 1-1 deal for certain players. Sid, Geno, AO, possibly Phaneuf are special. Besides anyone that saw what happened to that guy we got at the deadline last season is going to be wary of overpaying with out assurances of signing.

Any deal for Gabby will look SIMILAR to the deal we made at the deadline. Possibly one less roster player.
