O'Brien and Bell on waivers

Postby kingpuck on Mon Oct 06, 2008 3:09 pm

First O'Brien. Regardless of what some may think after the first two games, Gog and Letang will eventually provide the "O" back there we need. They both make the great first pass, and they will be fine on the PP in 10-20 games or so. What we need is someone with some jam back there who can clear a crease and drop the mits if necessary to keep Fluery alive and healthy throughout the season. O'Brien can do this and he's cheap, Tampa has placed him on waivers. Please move Sydor and keep O'Brien as a 7th, but dress him for the Philly, Boston, NY, NJ opponents who are bound to test our SOFT defense.
Before we hear about Orpick and Gill,,,,t,,Orpick can hit and skate, Gill can move bodies, but neither provide what O'Brien can.

Mark Bell..........call me crazy but to me, he has so much potential to be a Power Forward, I'd like to see him here instead of Thomas, give him a shot on Sid's wing for 5-7 games, standing in front of the net and playing nasty. If he fails, waive him. Despite his past off ice troubles I think he could be a good addition.

Someone will claim Bell before the Pens could. Wouldn't mind giving him a shot. Could always just waive him if he doesn't work.

First of all, O'Brien brings little to nothing that Orpik and Gill don't bring...which is why he's in his 3rd or 4th organization in two or three years...

Secondly, O'Brien wasn't waived, as KG mentioned, he was traded to Vancouver (Ouellet and O'Brien for Krajicek and Juraj Simek)...

Third of all, if we ever have the need for a drunk driving race we can get Mark Bell...otherwise, this isn't 4 years ago, when he was relevant...

O'Brien can still rack up the PIM for me in Vancouver. I don't know how the Tampa offense will survive without Omelette though.

I think the issue is Bell has had too many "shots" already. Shots of Jack Daniels, Wild Turkey, Old Grandad ... with a beer chaser too.

People are calling for line overhauls, and for Fedotenko and Satan to be moved off on Crosby's line after 2 (stupid sweden) games, and yet we want to give Bell 5-7 games, and people earlier were clamoring for Pesonen to see at least 10 games on Crosby's wing. How does this make any sense at all LGPers?

It doesn't make sense, which does make sense given the forum.

Bell makes $2.5MM this year, so I don't see any team picking him up for that price...

Sydor for Bell...then we can talk...
