Versus using "puck-tracking" technology / 2008-09 Schedule

Postby Admin on Wed Oct 08, 2008 11:18 am

From a Versus press release:
Each NHL season, VERSUS seeks to institute new production enhancements to provide a better viewing experience for fans. This year VERSUS is rolling out a new puck-tracking system that will digitally track the puck and allow viewers to follow the play with greater ease when analysts are discussing puck movement and its importance to specific highlights.

Puck-tracking will only be used during the network’s Hockey Central studio show and during intermissions to emphasize highlights and will not be used during live game play. The virtual telestrator utilized in this year’s NHL telecasts, first introduced in the network’s college football coverage and Tour de France telecasts, allows analysts to highlight and break down plays in a more vibrant and visually engaging way.

This isn't the glowing puck, is it?

If so, I will not watch it.

Then you are going to miss Def Leppard and Alanis Morissette.

As part of the network’s October 9, game coverage VERSUS will air portions of the NHL Face-Off Rocks 2008; an opening day spectacular starring multi-platinum selling rock band Def Leppard and Alanis Morissette. Def Leppard will perform their hockey-inspired hit single, “C’mon, C’mon” from Fox Theatre in Detroit and Grammy award-winning recording artist Alanis Morissette will perform via satellite from Montreal.

This is probably a good thing. Most other sports are using technology like this when breaking down highlights.

That's the word. I'm just as shocked as you, but I guess they were dating, and he basically did what she is saying in the song.

Alanis I can live without. Once is more than enough. Def Leppard might be...oh, never mind. Showing my age. :)

Def Leppard has always been one of my favorites, but I want to hurt someone everytime I hear Pour Some Sugar on Me. Most overplayed song ever along with AC/DC Shook Me All Night Long.

That's funny because driving in this morning, I heard Pour Some Sugar On Me and I thought to myself this song is so overplayed.

Went to see them a few years ago in Atlantic City with Journey and they sounded good, but Joe can't hit the high notes anymore.
