Alexander Frolov Trade Rumor

Postby Kicksave on Thu Oct 16, 2008 6:33 am

Only from the voices inside my head. Stealing WWGRD's idea.

He's 26.
He's signed through next season at $2.9 million.
He's RH'ed, playing the LW.
He has scored 30+ goals in this league.
He won't give you much more than 35-35, so his price tag is considerably less than that of Gaborik.
You could be able to get him without giving up Staal.

The Frolov train is starting with me. I'm the conductor.

Who to give up if not Staal? Don't think Letang straight up would do it.

Kennedy, Fedetenko and a 1st? Nah they wouldn't bite. Frolov's sweet.

I wouldn't mind Frolov at all. He is exactly (as per the above description) what I think Sid's wing should be, if you can't add (and sign Hossa or Gaborik).

A question, if you get a guy like this, do we need Satan? Wouldn't moving him (if they could find a taker) make sense?

Satan and a nobody for Frolov. Or a three-way deal.

Staal or Satan or Fedotenko. Prefer either of the latter 2, but I'm souring on Staal. Decent player, but he can't finish and his passing is suspect. I don't think he merits a large contract at this time either.

To answer this question, Satan was a bad signing in the first place. When I posted the same when he was signed I received alot of grief. I still think his better days are behind him.

If we aren't giving up Staal for Frolov then I don't see a match...Kings probably have zero interest in Whitney with the D LA has developing...But I would try it...

I'll throw this out there:

Staal and Whitney

for

Frolov and J. Johnson....

If this is true, should we start a "shopping list" thread of players and deals that we would like RS to look into. It might just take a little stress off his job.

If you could get Frolov for some package including Staal, I would be all for it. That would give you Sid and Frolov on Line 1 and Geno and Sykora on Line 1A. I think Frolov's a better fit on this team than Staal, at about the same price.

Any Russian Forward that comes to this team is only allowed to play on line 2 with Malkin. FOR CHEMISTRY and they can talk Russian. Duh.

Why on Earth would a rebuilding team like LA trade one of its better players for an aging impending UFA and a "nobody?"

Kennedy is too cheap to give up for how good he is.

Letang is the future to replace Gonchar..can't move him for a forward.

This team has noone to trade because they are either "core" or on their final year.

The kings might want to keep him around. They are building a young core too, ya know.

Nobody will trade for Satan. He's UFA next season and in trade circles that makes him basically worthless.

Satan was not a bad signing at all.

#1) He wanted to be here

#2) He is cheap

#3) If he sucks (which he hasn't and I don't see any signs that he will start to) it's a one year deal, if he doesn't work out, he's gone next year.

Maybe if life were like an EA sports game with the salary cap turned off they could have signed everyone from last years all star team for 10 MIL a year.

I agree with the other points. But $3.5MM for Satan is not a great bargain for someone that wanted to be here...Sykora at 2 years $5MM is a bargain...

So what. Lots of guys want to be here. I have yet to see evidence of his great desire to be here on the ice.

slipshod wrote:#2) He is cheap

I'll grant that. But he is only cheap if he produces, and I have seen scant evidence that he will yet.

slipshod wrote:#3) If he sucks (which he hasn't and I don't see any signs that he will start to) it's a one year deal, if he doesn't work out, he's gone next year.

So you don't call your supposed first line winger having one goal, one assist, and only six shots in four games despite playing on the number one power play "sucking?" Not to mention his soff, indifferent play? I guess your standards are more lenient than mine.

So what are we giving up for a player as good as Fro that doesn't include Staal?
