Do the Penguins have a goaltender controversy?

Postby Idoit40fans on Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:59 pm

After the way Sabourin played tonight, and the fact that he has yet to let in more than one goal in a game, I think they should seriously consider giving him a chance to be the starter.

No, there is no controversy. Sabu is the clear cut starter going forward. Anything less would lead me to create a "FIRE MT!" thread.

Maybe open the competition back up in camp next year. Otherwise, Sabourin should remain starter for the remainder of the season.

That is totally unfair to Sabu. His GAA is under 1!!! If we are lucky, he'll take a home town discount and sign a Dipietro type contract. 15 years probably isn't long enough to lock up a talent like him, but at that age, he'll be entering his prime and probably want the big pay day. I would expect Detroit to snatch him up at that point, but we will always remember the 17 years of glory.

20 yr- $70 million contract sound good to you?
He's definately worth it given his GAA this season.

Fleury has only won half of his games, Sabourin has won all of his games. Fleury has 1.5 more goals against per game and has a 4.8 worse save percentage.

MAF = Trade deadline bait. If anyone wants him.

If we package him with Sydor, we can get a 6th rounder.

I'm not taking anything away from Fleury, he can be a great backup, but I think Sabourin needs a long look.

Oh and I haven't consumed any alcohol today, which is an extreme rarity on a gameday.

You usually consume alcohol when Fleury starts.
