Looking for photos of Ron Francis wearing #9

Postby mrmain18 on Wed Oct 22, 2008 3:56 pm

I make custom McFarlane sports figures and received an order for a Ron Francis from his early Penguins days when he wore #9, but I am unable to locate any reference photos. If anyone can help point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Because he wanted to advertise his services.

I mainly wanted to see what kind of equipment he was using at the time so I could be as accurate as possible. I really don't need to advertise my "services." I already have more orders than I can handle.

I know he played 14 regular season games and 24 playoff games that year. For how long did he wear #9?

I believe the entire season. (Not sure why he didn't take "Barry Pederson's number" when he first arrived.)

Here's him with the Whalers. Don't know if that helps -- Doubt it, but if his equipment doesn't change when he's wearing 10 you can assume

Gotta love the cheap-o Pro Set cards. They made so many errors in their first year of production, it was ridiculous...tons of spelling errors, pictures of the wrong guy, and the stats on the back were all messed up. At least they tried

And then they did their Pro Set Platinums.

I really need to dig out my SC-era hockey cards.

Yeah "platinum" was their premium cards. They're worth like 10 times more than the regular issue. Someone help me with the math... what is 10 * 0? I had tons of those things and threw everything out that wasn't a Penguin card (and a few Nordiques, yeah, I liked them too... until they moved).

Dude, you couldn't like the Pens and the Nords. You're a joke. :D

Pens/Quebec was shaping to be quite a rivalry.

I hardly think you can tell me who I can like. I'm from WI, so I don't have to like anyone. I started watching hockey in 1987 because of watching Lemieux highlights on the sports channels. Both teams were not even playoff teams for several years, so it's not like I was jumping on board a winning team. I just like high scoring games and these two teams delivered. What could be better than Lemieux, Rob Brown, Quinn & Coffey against the Stastny brothers, Jeff Brown & Goulet? Penguins were always #1 and Nordiques #2 (until they moved). Now it's just the Penguins.
