Great win tonight before the long roadtrip. I thought the Pens worked harder than they have so far this season.

Staal and Feds finally showed up and the transition game was a thing of beauty. When we play like this, we are without a doubt the best team in the East.

Fedo speaks english really well. It's good to see him and Max both get on the board.

The Pens will get the Rangers on the back end of back-to-back nights. They play in Columbus tomorrow, and if the Rangers lose in regulation, the Pens can claim first place with a win on Saturday.

DelPen wrote:Staal had one hell of a 3rd period. He was able to dictate the play in the Canes end with Tank. I really think if you add Kennedy to that line we have a very good shut down line that will score a few goals but will almost never give one up.

I still don't like Crosby and Malkin together as it wastes those two as well as Satan and Sykora. Talbot can play with Malkin and we would have balance.

I agree, Malkin won't and shouldn't be with Sid too much longer. I think it was a good idea to get the teams offensive confidence going though.

I would like to see:

Dupuis Crosby Satan
Talbot Malkin Sykora
Feds Staal Kennedy
Cooke Zigomantis Godard

Dupuis shouldn't be on the first line.

The guy has heart and energy, but not the talent to be a mainstay on that top line.

I disagree. His speed is an asset. He'll get his share of chances playing alongside Crosby.

I think hes our best option right there though. With the game Staal and Fedotanko had together, you can't spilt them up now.

Wait til' Cooke & Gill Return, then Whitney & Gonchar? This team will score 7 goals a game while giving up only 1 or 2.
Great game by Staal , Fed, Talbot, Fleury, Sid & Malkin.

I forgot about Hossa long time ago.

I don't care if its a small sample size, any time you extrapolate their points to 82 games they are always right around there.

Quietly, the Pens have only given up 1 goal per in the last 3 games.

He should've had atleast one goal tonight the way that Crosby was dishing the puck to him. He's not a good finisher. It's hard to complain though after the third period they played tonight.

The Pens have allowed 17 goals thus far. They've given up 11 even-strength goals according to NHL.com, five PP goals and one shorthanded goal.

No problem. But giving up 2.12 goals per game, their current rate, is excellent. They'll easily win 50 games if they can keep the goals against around that number.

You heard Bob Errey saying that in reference to Jordan Staal.

I think he meant to say that Staals line has not given up an ES goal, but he said the team hasn't.

If your team hasn't given up as ES goal after 6 games, you're probably 6-0, 5-1 at worst.

Well, even with our two best d-men out, the team is still playing great defense.

Where are all the Therrien haters now when we see the system work to perfection?

Our goalies continue to look great.

The D pairings were really good. Orpik was able to start roaming with Scuds and Letang was also able to play more agressive with Eaton. And Sydor provided some stability for Gogo. Barring the giveaway by Orpik the defense was almost perfect.
