The better question is: Why are we even bringing this up?

Your right. I apologize.. I should have started another Staal thread or who should be on the top line thread.

If you want to be a jerk and start negative threads like this, go ahead. No one is going to stop you. However, I highly doubt this is what people want to talk about after a depressing Pittsburgh sports weekend.

No, actually you are right. I'm sure people want to come on LGP and look at an absurd thread as this.

WOW, Why are you name calling? I had this game and thought I would bring it up. When did we decide we need to check with you before we make a thread?

Chill out guy.

Well, when you post a thread like this, you should expect to get flamed. It is pretty much assumed to not bring up that game here. People don't want to be reminded about it.

So? It's one of the devastating games in Penguins history against one of the Penguins' worst nightmares. The Isles have done it to us several times.

What makes that game so difficult was how everybody thought that was a better team than the ones that won the Cup in '91 and '92. That was supposed to be our year and the Islanders crushed it.

FWIW, I think you guys are overreacting.

This is where we talk about the Pittsburgh Penguins. Past, present, and future.

He was posting about something nostalgic to him related to the Pens, with other Pens fans. There's no need to rip him for it. We are allowed to post about Penguins history, good and bad.

Everything posted here about the Penguins must be of a positive nature. Games like the one you mentioned can be made to go away by simply squeezing your eyes shut tight long enough to make them disappear.

game six might have been the one that ron francis had a major high stick penalty and had to leave the game...?

Records that the teams who win game six to force the game 7 win a high % of those played.

If we had won game 6 in the SCF last season....we would have won game 7.

Remembering the Islanders series from 93 is not so bad for me. It reminds me that we can never underestimate anyone.

I agree with you. What's the big deal about posting this. It is reminicing (sp??) about a game 15 years ago. The outcome wasn't so good, but who cares.

I don't particulary remember this game, but I will never forget Game 7. I was at our schools Kennywood picnic. Towards the end of the third period, everyone was standing around the candy shop by the Turnpike and Old Mill listening to the game. When it went to overtime, my parents made me leave. We were crossing the Rankin Bridge when the Isles scored. This is my third worst Pgh sports memory only behind the Sid Bream slide in 1992 NLCS and the loss to San Diego in the 1994 AFC Championship game.

The OP is right, this is a place to talk about Pens hockey, past present and future. I suggest you follow your username and not be so Serious. If you don't like this thread, just ignore it.

I love talking about old time Penguins. That was out best team ever! And we lost to a bad team. It's even more shocking than when we lost the Florida Panthers series. I thought we were heading for another cup that year too. It sure makes you appreciate the 2 we did get all that much more.

Geez, tough crowd. All the guy did was bring up a former playoff game. I know it wasn't our proudest moment, but you don't have to rip his head off.

Some of you came off as hotheads in this thread. Geez.. the guy brought up a not so good time in Pens' memory.. big deal. It was 15 years ago. He didn't even mention Game 7 or Volek.

Lighten up.

What he said. I like reminiscing, it's been long enough now that we can laugh about it or at least have civil discussion. One of the most baffling losses of all time, I might add.

Speaking of which, rooting through my house the other day and found an autographed novelty stick from the 1990 All-Star game. Holy old.

Well, since you brought it up.... What I remember is a couple of unconscious saves by Healy late in the second period of a tie game. Saves on Mario and Jagr, IIRC. A sign of things to come in the following game, but I always thought that if the Pens had taken a lead heading into the third period of game six, they would have sealed the deal.

The high-stick on Francis was an automatic game misconduct according to the rules of the day. Now they can call a 5-minute major but not issue a game misconduct (unless that's changed since last season).
