Which Loss This Weekend...

Postby blackjack68 on Mon Oct 27, 2008 1:52 pm

was most disappointing? (Pens, Steelers or Pitt)

Poll from Post Gazette.

http://www.post-gazette.com/polls/defau ... ollID=2762

The Steelers are leading.

At first I immediately voted Steelers, but after thinking about it...should I have voted for the Pens?

The Steelers were injury and suspension depleted going into a 4pm game (which plague them for some reason) against the defending Super Bowl Champions. Maybe should've expected a loss.

The Pens were playing a team they beat in ast year's playoffs, were up 2-0 going into the third and gave away the lead and essentially the game, with 8.1 seconds left. Very disappointing.

Pitt, just continues to disappoint, so no suprise there.

How would you have voted and why?

Assuming you care about each team equally, its easily Pitt.

Assuming you aren't that foolish, its the Pens, as it always is.

I didn't get to even watch the pens game. I can't remember the last time I missed an entire Pens game. probably not this century. Last season I missed the first two periods going to Pitt bball games twice.

I'd say Pitt's loss. Steelers and Penguins losing is pretty inconsequential at this point. Pitt's season is pretty much lost at this point unless you think playing in the insight.com bowl is exciting.

It seems like it happens more often than it should.

They either all win or all lose. Crazy.

I vote for Pitt's loss, what little faith I was starting to have in Wannstedt and the program just flushed away.
It ruined the excitement of watching Super Shady McCoy run on Saturdays.

This weekend was a low moment for me. But back in December when Pitt BB beat Duke, Steelers beat the Rams and the Pens beat the Bruins, that was an awesome night.

But vote is Pitt. I love all three teams the same, but the Steelers are still in the lead in the AFC Central. The Pens still got a point and have another 73 games to go.

Pitt FB, they could have been 6-1 and riding high. Now, there are a lot of questions surrounding the team. College football, unlike any other sport, is based on perception instead of on the field results. This hurts.

How about option D. Every Philly team won this weekend. Flyers won, Eagles won, and the Phillies are about to make great sites like http://www.PhillySucks.com pointless.

For me, the Pens were the biggest let down because they blew yet another lead.

penguin loss just annoys me because they did so much right for almost the entire game.
But those Pitt Panthers, every time you think they are ready to be legit, they fizzle.
Steelers? I don't how many more injuries they can withstand.

That was amazing on 2 levels. 1 the wins, 2 my insane living room setup that allowed me to watch all the games.

Guido, that's not true. Regardless of Philly's soon-to-be upcoming victory, Phillysucks.com will never be pointless.

I'd say the Pens would have to be the most disappointing. 8 seconds away from victory only to lose in the shootout.

I have learned to never expect a Pitt victory as long as Bernie is running the show.

Steelers? With the injuries that were stacking up during the game, it was only a matter of time before they lost control of that game. Heh, it shouldn't have even been that close. Had it not been for the D, the margin of victory could have easily been 14+ pts.

Pitt because that game was worth more for Pitt's season than the Pens or Steeler's game.

Pens.Being a Giants fan it's kind of hard to feel bad for the Steelers for obvious reasons.

Pitt, but since the Giants losing would have been good for the Cowboys that one was a bit irritating.

The silent fourth option - a Penn State loss would have hurt far worse than the other three, as excruciating as the Pens failure to score on the EN, then allow the goal with 8.1 to go was... Whomever identified the Steelers and Pens losses as inconsequential in the overall picture, yes, they are, but between the Steelers injuries, and the Pens repeat performance of a week third period playing with a lead... there is something to be concerned about, but both should be able to overcome their issues. Pitt, on the other hand, has a tougher road, but can still win the big east if they win out.

A Penn State loss would have made me feel 10Xs better about the other three losses. :D

i agree that a penn state loss would have been decimating. I was watching both games (Pens and Penn State) at the same time and was heartbroken at an 8 second loss basically. Should have worn my crosby jersey over my penn state apparel!!!

Pens' loss stung the most. Rage factor: 10

Stillers' loss mitigated by injuries and quality of opponent. Rage factor: 6

Pitt's loss expected and inconsequential. Rage factor: Zero

Some more perspective on this:
Pitt had to be the most disappointing, losing to an unranked team at home and giving up 54 points.
Pens were disappointing in that they blew a 2 goal lead, but they were playing a tough division opponent on the road and those things happen in an 82 game season. At least they salvaged a point.
The Steelers lost to the defending Super Bowl champs, so no shame there except that they had opportunities to win but had too many turnovers and injuries.

It is always depressing when multiple Pittsburgh sports teams lose on the same weekend.

Even more Depressing:

Flyers 2-0 this weekend
Eagles 1-0 this weekend
Phillies 2-0 this weekend, 1 win from championship.

Puke. What a Joke.

Pittsburgh was jobbin it this weekend.

I didn't see the pens game live, but for me it's the most dissapointing. I have no interest in college football, and while the steelers loss was tough, when the giants tied it up on the safety, i kind of accepted a loss because they couldn't really kick a field goal to win it with no long snapper. The odds of them getting a td and holding off the giants while running off the remainder of the clock seemed pretty grim. But if the hockey gods hadn't pushed sid's shot 6 inches to the left, that game would've been over. If i would've seen that live, I would have been livid and disgusted. Watching the replay, I was just disgusted.
