I agree almost entirely. I still want to see them go back to opening night's lines again though. People are willing to excuse Dupuis for not finishing with Sid, but Staal is a better fit for that role than Dupuis is. Probably about as good down low, only a lot bigger. Who cares if you don't think he plays physical enough, he still occupies a lot more space.
Yes, you're right. I also don't have much of a problem with Cooke playing in the top 6. He has showed himself more than able to play in the top 6 when he played in that role with Vancouver. And Therrien always believed in his "reward system." And let's face it, Matt Cooke was one of the few that showed up to play last night. And he deserves an opportunity. He can be a good linemate for Geno in terms of opening up some space, and grinding it down low.
And oh yea, does anyone remember how we had Line 1A and Line 1B last season in the stretch run and the playoffs? We have something like that if Fedo and Satan play on the top line with Crosby. Each of the top two lines would have a playmaker, sniper, and a grinder. And I have said it before, Sykora AND Satan are both effective if and only if they are playing alongside 87 and 71. And based on the lines on the Pens website, Satan is being used ineffectively and he's being put in a position to not succeed. He needs to play next to Sid. And Sykora needs to stay with Malkin.
