Tonight's game is crucial for the seemingly-struggling Pens. The Penguins (5-3-2) haven't come out and played 60 minutes of hockey so far this year, with their closest full game effort being the Bruins several nights ago. Additionally, the Pens boast the 23rd ranked offense in the NHL. Despite superb goaltending by Marc-Andre Fleury and backup Dany Sabourin, the Pens forwards haven't gotten the job done. Tonight the Pens need to prove they won't play down to the level of the Coyotes (3-4-0).
Some key moves were made today by Michel Therrien to compensate for an anemic offense and injury to Pascal Dupuis. Most noteworthy is the call up of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Forward Chris Minard, who is leading the Baby Pens in scoring through seven games with 13 points (7 G, 6A; 2 GWG). Minard is not a new face in a Pens uniform, as he served well during call-ups last year as well.
Forward Tyler Kennedy will replace Dupuis on the top line, with Minard seeing action alongside Jordan Staal and Miroslav Satan on the Third Line. Cooke will get a shot at second-line minutes with Malkin. Max Talbot should return from an undisclosed injury.
Fedotenko - Crosby - Kennedy
Cooke - Malkin - Sykora
Minard - Staal - Satan
Talbot - Zigomanis - Godard
