How about 2003, we drafted stone in the 2nd round and Patrice Bergeron was selected like 6 or 7 picks after that

I'm waiting for Jesse to post in this thread and draft Oscar Moeller.

I'm not going to do an entire year, but I always wanted Toews over Staal, who I thought was overrated because of his last name.

At this point, you could be right about Staal.

I have chosen to do 1998 as well for fun.

1. Scott Gomez
2. Erik Cole
3. Brian Gionta
4. Jaroslav Spacek
5. Trent Hunter
6. Pavel Datsyuk
7. Jonas Frogren
8. Trade the Pick
9. Trade the Pick

Gionta-Crosby-Cole
Hunter-Malkin-Sykora
*****-Datsuk-*****
*****-Gomez-*****

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

Datsyuk and Gomez would never be on the 3rd/4th line. They're first line players - would never be able to retain those players.

heres a thought to ponder.. looking back from washington's perspective, do you think they would draft malkin ahead of ovechkin? or maybe, if not now, 5-8 years down the road?

There is no way we end up with Malkin or Crosby if we drafted right in the first place.

This.

I know people like to go back and second guess but it ignores the fact that things would've shaken out differently.
